I think one of the funniest things about this is that I remember a lot of people complaining about how quickly Cage was killed in the 2nd live action movie, MK Annihilation, but it turns out that was actually true to the lore lol. Sure they may have taken liberties with everything else, but turns out Cage did die during that part

I think how Johnny should have been handled is that he was a professional fighter at first, one of the best. Got rich and cocky. Didn’t want to fight anymore because it took too much effort so he became a movie star instead. While his talent as a martial artist dwindles. Think of him like Andrew Tate minus the trafficking and assault

the idea behind him was a serious character participating in deadly tournaments, just like its real life inspiration, Van Damme but as the decades go on he faded into a joke character, a hollywood stereotype

he's a comical character, but not a joke character. just like faust also is a comical character. Joke characters tend to be just some silly shit the devs put on with no care to it, while these two i mentioned are both very important to their respective game's story and are well thought as fighting characters just like anyone else in their rosters
