WHICH GTA ANTAGONIST SHOULD WE HATE THE MOST AND WHY?

I literally wanted to destroy Dimitri while playing GTA IV. Some antagonists like Haines and Sonny might be irritating sometimes, but whenever I hear Dimitri speaking to Nico I immediately got angry. The way he treats the Protagonist, his character and all of the things he causes he is best antagonist in the series imo

My head canon: Tenpenny and Carl had a grudge since CJs adolescent years. Like CJ was in juvie and Tenpenny was the man responsible for arresting CJ the first time. The fact that Tenpenny has been a corrupt cop since CJs teenage years. It’s apparent that he’s been expanding influence in not just Los Santos but in parts of San Andreas. Crash is a state wide anti gang unit. Handling urban problems across the major cities of San Andreas and Tenpenny was only the Los Santos branch crash officer. And his corruption was so influential that it gave crash a bad name and caused the LS riots and possibly its disbandment after. Maybe the officers who were involved with Tenpennys inner circle face arrest as well as suspensions and terminations. That maybe the former crash officers would help to create a new gang in Los santos later. The professionals. They called it.

My list #5 Catalina - Betrayed her boyfriend like he was nothing and killed many innocent people. Also was batshit crazy #4 Martinez - Cared nothing about rules and set up Vic for his own skin, despite him being a civilian, and showed no concern for his motives and had a hand in a huge gang war with the Mendez brothers that caused Louise's death. #3 Sonny - Betrayed his best friend and ruined his life. Also Sonny did claim he pulled some strings, and judging by Tommy not denying it, its probably true. Also, had no qualms about drug dealing and other crimes, as well as manipulating Tommy's best friend Lance into betraying him. Lance's death and betrayal only hardened Tommy more, and may have fractured his friendship with Ken. #2 Dimitri - Consistently manipulative and stopped at nothing to claw to power. Showed no care for others. Tried hurting Roman just because he was Niko's relative. Had his best friend killed without supposed remorse. #1 Tenpenny - Tenpenny is the worst of the bunch. If Ray Bulgarin was on the list, he'd be my pick. Tenpenny abused his power, was a manipulative, vile, rapist, piece of evil shit. He betrayed the system. He almost destroyed Los Santos because of his crimes. He has hurt the people he swore to protect while projecting himself as a crime fighter. He's a hypocrite and GTA's most evil antagonist. Sure Dimitri, Sonny and Catalina killed more people. But Tenpenny probably caused more. Tenpenny never gave a damn. At least Catalina was somewhat attached to Carl, Sonny seemed to have a bit of respect and genuine friendship with Tommy back in the day, and Dimitri was smart enough to hide his real personality, and Martinez was at least honest with what he has done and admitted it was to save his own ass. Tenpenny's best quality is how charismatic of a villian he is. But other than that, there is nothing but evil.

About Catalina, don't forget that she also took complete control of the Columbian Cartel, tried to push SPANK (A parody of crack) into Liberty with the help of the Yardies, and just like Dimitri, betrayed, and later killed Miguel, her own partner, for her own power. Still not as bad as Tenpenny or Dimitri, but she was a hell of a skank.

Tenpenny is easily the most despicable. He killed so many innocent people and abused his authority as a police officer. Witnesses, FBI agents, other cops, DEA Agents. At least Catalina was only behind the death of other gang leaders like Asuka. That and pushing Spank. Sonny arguably wasn't that bad, the only really evil thing he did in the storyline was attack Earnest Kelly. All he wanted was his money back.

Tenpenny, in his own weird ways, was trying to get streets under control, which was quoted in one of his final monologues "Fifty of me - and this town would be okay. I took the trsh out..." Basically, his model of ruling the streets was similar to world leaders like USA/USSR ruling over third world countries in XX century - you put up a puppet dicktator/leader in front and have control over situation. Same thing with Ballas, Smoke and crack - it's way easier to control a gang which leaders are under your influence and the biggest drug lord in town is your puppet. And reporters who used to invest into his dark things were a big obstacle for his ruling hand. So nah, Tenpenny's actions actually have logic behind them. Unlike Martinez, who turns Vic's life upside down out of boredom. Or Dimitri, who backstabs everyone who he's working with. Sonny's actions have sense in them - being envy/seeing someone who would eventually become more popular around made men. Catalina is just one crazy bitch who doesn't know what she wants. So it's either Martinez, Dimitri or this bank-robbing cheetah.

Sonny was bad. He tried to have Tommy killed back in 71 via the Harwood incident due to jelousy. He didn't help him when he got tried. After he got released and sent to vice city, he insulted Tommy and never appreciated for saving Giogino's ass for fraud.

Tenpenny hates CJ because he hates what Sweet and GSF have done, or rather haven’t done, for his drug racket. Smoke and Ryder fell in line. All the other gangs in town fell in line. Sweet was the only problem and caused the same for his gang. So when CJ shows up, someone he can manipulate and talk to regularly, he takes it all out on him. Carl is Frank’s only in on the real grove street and he wants him to know exactly how he feels about it.

[ Reason ] Tommy cost Sonny some dough plus Sonny getting worried that Tommy climbing in the ranks & 1 day Tommy might venture on his own so he stage Tommy's termination but Tommy got out of it till the cops arrested Tommy.

Its 50/50 between Tenpenny and Dimitri for me. I lean towards dimitri only for the simple reason that Dimitri understands what he is and doesnt think he is doing something good. The most hated GTA antagonist in my opinion in HD universe is Dimitri Rascalov, since he will do anything, and betray anyone to that stands in his way. For the 3D univers it's going to be Catalina. Frank Tenpenny did a lot of bad things but it's not on the same level as Catarina. This antagonist has been abused by her foster father in her childhood which has destroyed her mentally, so she has no problems shooting anyone, abusing verbally/physically her partners, viewing men as inferior/weaker to her, taking pleasure in hurting others, and will whatever it takes to kill her enemies (sending out the drug addicts as suicide bombers to destroy just one guy is pure evil).

The thing about Sonny is... Tommy wasn't much better. Sonny betrayed Tommy in Harwood yes, but Tommy didn't actually have any evidence for this at the start of Vice City. He took it upon himself to poorly (and suspiciously) communicate to Sonny regarding the stolen cocaine/money and then kept all of his new cash that he was making for himself, when by rights Sonny should have had a substantial cut. Sonny had legit grievances against Tommy regardless of whatever else happened in the past.

Would probably say Dimitri as he's a constant thorn in your side but I didn't really enjoy GTA IV as much as i did SA so it's probably SA purely because it's my favourite game and it has Samuel L Jackson voice acting. He often switches from someone who is trying to help Carl to someone who absolutely will shoot him or his brother if he doesn't cooperate. I also enjoy the deteriorating mental state as he gets really edgy towards the end.
