Small correction: The Ships may also have input combos, so you need to watch out for that too. Some ships have an easy to trigger combo that eats away at your shields to fire an attack, or tapping left and right can disrupt the on-screen projectiles as if you had the repulsor.

Oh yeh, and you should research "twiddles" for this game. They're Street Fighter-like special moves, exclusive to each ship.

When I was like 10 years old and I don't have internet back then, I was able to figure out the twiddles on each ship by myself and write them on my diary... ah memories...

if you want to master this game your going to have to learn to use a mouse. it lets you move just like you would if your ship was a mouse unlike centipede where your ship moves to a speed and then just keeps moving meaning you only get control if you do not move to far in Tyrian your ship is just a mouse though not as fast as the mouse (at least with my mouse setting).

Remember the level with the green and red gravity bulbs? Use Mouse and Keyboard simultaneously. Makes you moove like a rocket.

I think the hardest difficulty I can play is Impossible. I always do no death run in Arcade mode, meaning if my ship blow up I will restart the level

Top game. I played it a lot on my Amiga 500.

Yeah, Tyrian is a great one, but i think its spiritual sequel - Jets'n'Guns is much better. At least the first one. Its essentially the same game, with differenet ships and upgrades, but horizontal and with some humor in cutscenes. Its my favorite "shmup"
