Dusting it off the shelf again, and this is the definitive goto video to refresh the rules for me.

One of the best video explanations of a board game I have seen. Clear and concise yet doesn't feel rushed.

I think who people that live in Yokohama decides who is the first player? Maybe the oldest one because he/his was the first one to "visit" Yokohama?

This is fantastic. Took me 45 minutes to explain this to my friends the first time. I'm having them watch this next time. Great job, as always, Paul!

Thanks Benjamin. Actually, there has been a university-funded scientific survey done which has proven that watching a Gaming Rules! video at the start of a games night takes less time to explain to everyone how to play than it would to teach yourself. So thankyou for contributing to that survey. Note: I might be making this all up, its been a long day :) Did you spot a rule you were getting wrong - a few other people have :)

Yep! Caught a few things... The way the tech/order cards slide down the line, paying 1 Yen just for placing an assistant in a space with an opposing President and adding the extra tech value to the cards (when they have an extra cog with a number above them), oh, and that you can only use ONE Foreign Agent per turn. I don't think anyone did in our game, but will be important to point out in future plays as we get better at collecting those and more efficient in using them. The temptation will be there!

Paul, your vids are, BY FAR, the most useful around the web if one's looking to simply learn how to play a game. Keep it up!!!!

Much appreciated. I personally find playthroughs more useful. However, they are much longer videos and I try to keep mine as short as possible :)

This is really weird for me to say this. But this video actually convinced me to buy this game. when I first saw the setup on BGG my first reaction was "holy damn that looks complicated." But as soon as you explained how the assistants worked and how moving through your assistants works in this game I was instantly hooked. This seems like a really fun and surprisingly simple game! I feel like I have a better grasp of this game than I do of most games after reading the manual myself! This is an excellent tutorial video!

Much appreciated.Yeah, it looks super complex from just looking at it, but the rules are not THAT complex.

This is also completely true for me. Watched the video on Monday evening, immediately ordered the game and had it by Wednesday. In between, watched several review videos, all of which were overwhelmingly positive. But it was your clear, concise explanation that convinced me I would really love this one and get a lot of plays in my groups with it. Thanks! And the cat animations were lovely too.

Awesome job, and thank you so much! Setting up the board and then looking at the rukebook has intimidated me from playing several times. I had sworn I would play this by my birthday however, and that is today. Found your video and watched it with my husband, and wow, everything just clicked. Subscribing to your channel so I can play more of the games from my "shelf of shame." ^_^

Getting money from the trading houses, # value of technology instead of # of technology cards for end game scoring, and 5-power tiles being flipped up instead of flipped down on the board. Minor things that wouldn't have changed the game too much.

Great video - now I want the game! But the tie breaker for the church and customs seems wrong (17:26). You say the right most wins the tie (which makes sense) but then the color you say gets it is wrong. It should be yellow for the church and blue for the customs. I think maybe you make the mistake because you were looking at it upside down!
@GamingRulesVideos7 жыл бұрын
Jonathan A. You are the second person who spotted this. However, it is correct. The tiebreaker is the player on the right. In the church, blue has 2 cubes and yellow has 1, so blue wins.
@JonathanA7 жыл бұрын
Wow - you are, not surprisingly, absolutely correct! I just immediately assumed, for some reason, you were showing how the tiebreaker worked. I guess it would have helped folks like me if you had said for the church, how many tokens each has, thus emphasizing it doesn't use the tiebreaker. Ah well, my bad.
@GamingRulesVideos7 жыл бұрын
nope, you are right. As I mentioned, you are not the first person confused by this, so I should have taken the time to state it clearer. Lesson learned :)
