inspired by this video, I made a dipole for 1090MHz ADS-B aircraft transponders with a gamma match made from the inner shield of RG6 coax, it's dielectric and the center conductor as the movable rod. at 1/16 wavelength, the capacitor is only 8mm long. great experiment and I was able to get a 1.1:1 match even using 75 ohm coax. I will be using gamma matches a lot in the future!

Like #1! Interesting my friend…I was in CBS this past weekend! I renovated a full kitchen!!! Well done with this antennae my friend…my father had one like this for his CB radio!!!!

Thanks ! If your Dad had a CB antenna it was for 27MHz on the 11 meter band and would have been much longer than this antenna which is only 1 meter long and is a half wave antenna on the 2 meter band from 144 - 148 MHZ. If your Dad had a copper antenna for CB it was most likely a 1/4 wave on 11 meters about 8 1/2 feet long. Thanks for watching and share with your friends.

@madeinfoxtrap5539 Meanwhile it tested it out and it creates wonders. I will never make a dipole with using this system. I used small trimming capacitors. It is such a fun tuning the antenna. Thanks again

Is there a way to calculate the length of what the gamma match might be? I want to make an 11m yagi and would like to use a gamma match

That I know of, you cannot solder aluminum except for zinc "brazing" rod and that is corrosive to electrical wiring. You definitely will never solder aluminum (aluminium) with electrical solder. Oops, I thought you were Irish. I guess it's aluminum in Canada. I love your designs, especially your lawn chair halo for 6 meters! Take care an 73!
