its great, but anbernic is reliying way too hard on the community to fix their systems. and every single system has these flaws since the rg350. its just pathetic as a company to need private people to fix their shit. dont get me wrong, i love the hardware, but even the new rg nano already has software flaws, which most likely wont be fixed until there is cfw but noo rather bring garlicos as second option to the rg35xx instead of fixing bugs

[SOLVED] I moved forward restarting the fastbooter. Then I realized I was trying to install RG405m gamma OS, instead of the RG505. Using the right install solved all my issues. Greetings. I went through the process and my Anbernic Bricked. Then I ran the unbricker and I restored to original OS, and I tried running the process but now it is unsuccessful. Do you guys know if there are any forums where I could get support? The "Spreadtrum / Unisoc Bootloader Unlock Tool" connect but freezes/does not prompt the data erasure/press back button part. And I thought, maybe it is flash still, so I tried running "fastboot reboot fastboot", but adb keeps "waiting for any device"; it is odd because I ran "adb devices" prior to make sure the RG505 was connected and it was detected successfully. EDIT: I ran adb reboot-bootloader and it seems to be moving me forward, I will be updating this comment. Edit 2: I managed to reinstall, but what happens is that I that when I boot, I see a small google setup screen for like a second, and then the screen goes black, I guess I will have to leave it with the original OS.

Great guide but had the wifi issue once gamma was on the device. Apparently its common in newer units. So now I need to run the unbricker then reinstall which apparently fixes it...those there doesn't seem to be much in the way of guides for that.

It's definitely usable just out of the box. GammaOS is an optional thing that improves the experience.

Good guide, easy to follow. Until I got to the part where it didn't boot after flashing and bricked my RG505. So apparently if the boot file is configured differently, it just wouldn't work, oops. Trying the unbrick tool now from the github guide, on my 3rd hour of downloading the "10 minute" process to unbrick. Wouldn't have change OS if I'd knew there was a risk of bricking it.

Hello, i just followed all the instructions, but accidentally pressed the down button instead of the home button (6m:15s). The anbernic now on the developer tools indicates that the bootloader is unlocked, and going to ADB fast Boot, prompting "fastboot reboot fastboot" a window pops up and the message "waiting for any device" appears. Additionally on the fastbootloader screen, i tried to flash the firmware but the equipment was not detected. On the Fastbootloader file i had to reboot the system, as i could do much more. Now my anbernic still works but loads up a message prior to the Anbernic Logo shows up on the top left side of the screen "fastboot mode INFO: LOCK FLAG IS: Unlock!!!. and a couple of seconds later the Anbernic starts normally. But now i no longer follow the instructions and press the HOME Button instead of the down...and also cannot entar Fastboot mode to flash the firmware. Can someone help? I know it can be a little complicated, but any help would be much appreciated. And also...can i run the FlashPartitions.bat with the RG505 on? i am asking because i cannot enter, the Fastbootloader (6m:55s) Thank you all. ;)

Great! Hmm, I don't know of any software or specific tools for latency testing. The way I tested D-pad latency was to film the screen and my finger tap'n'hold the right direction in slow-motion / high framerate several times and then count the frames until the visual reaction occurred.

when its says it will take up to 5 mins , for you some time passes and it is showing 0. For me, it loads immediately after "it will take up to 5 mins" and it says 1. After that stock os is loading if I press power.

Hi guys. I’m a noob and I’m installing gamma os on my rg505 and I’m only at the step where it wants me to install the unisoc driver for windows ten dpinst.64. My problem is that I’ve extracted it and it tries to load it and then says it won’t do it cause it doesn’t work for my computer. Anyone have any issues installing this driver and if so, what was your fix. I know it’s me doing something wrong cause I’ve tried loading it now in two different laptops and get the same error each time. Thanks for your help. ~T

Gamma is installed to the internal storage and doesn't require a micro SD card for the install process. Just keep it to the side until you are done installing it and Android should take care of the format when inserted into the device.

Trying this out. Once I get to fastbootd, it hangs at "fastboot flash vbmeta_a flash/vbmeta_custom.img" forever. If open the log after, it just tells me that it's "waiting for device." EDIT: Must not like my Windows 11 system. Trying it on a Win 10 one now, and it seems to be flashing.

Unfortunately, you can't switch on the fly between the two. However, you can definitely go back to the stock OS if you're not enjoying Gamma OS!

After trying to flash the flashpartions.bat. it just stuck on "fastboot flash vbmeta_a flash/vbmeta_custom.img" and there are no other scripts that is appearing on the command prompt.. is it normal? Though I'm still waiting if it progress

I guess were in the same issue, here is what I found to solved it, just follow the steps here, this should be solved your issue. Remove/rename any existing fastboot.exe application that exists on your PC to prevent issues with flashing such as the flashing stalling at vbmeta_a. Open a command prompt, type in the following command: where.exe fastboot.exe. This will show you where your fastboot.exe is being called from. Anything that is not in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ADB and Fastboot++\fastboot.exe location should be renamed to something else. Rename to something like oldfastboot.exe

Yes, compared to the stock Anbernic firmware. GammaOS is using the Retroid Pocket 3+ drivers and with Gamma's optimizations will be as good or better in some cases.

Yes, completely normal. It's just letting you know that the bootloader is unlocked.
