What makes a hero, that has been a huge part of this show. It clearly isn't costumes or powers, Hughie made the choice to be a hero. He could have given in and killed A-Train right in front of Starlight, but he did not do it. He did not want her to see that, he did not want to kill his enemy like that. That choice may hurt him later, but if A-Train survives he will have to live with the fact that Hughie spared him. It will eat at him more than anything else.

I honk it was more about Hughie seeing in Butcher what happens if you lose yourself to revenge. Butcher was willing to walk away from the other Boys (plus Kimiko). He lost his soul. Hughie didn’t want that, so he chose a different path, one that is more middle of the road, and, like you said, to be a hero along with Starlight.

That's such an evil move on Homelanders part. Instead of killing Billy since he has no regard for his own life, he instead made him witness that the person he hates the most has a child with the love of his life and she's been hiding from him. All that rage and hatred just flips on itself as his one driving force is put into question. Love the writing and hope to see a Season 2

It reminds me a little of Bane's plan to torture Batman. Instead of just killing him he tortures his soul by showing him the very thing he based his life around (revenge for his wife in Butchers case and Batmans love for Gotham) get destroyed. I know that Butchers wife in the literal sense doesn't get destroyed only Butchers idea of her, he was an avenging husband on noble quest for justice, but at the end to see her, in that moment, just like that, all the reasons you had for killing, all the compromises you have made, the and very thing you have been fighting for for all the years, evaporates in front of your eyes and your just a humiliated baby killer no better than the person you have been hunting! Homelander is Evil

You know when I first saw the trailer for this show I had a whole different impression on what this show was going to be about. I thought it was going to be more like they go around killing jerk supes every episode so when I saw the first season I was kind of disappointed. But with season 2 partly out (and so far I think it's getting better and better as each episode goes on) I have a newfound appreciation for the show and season one. Especially seeing these reactions reminded me that this show actually is great and has a lot of badass moments. And you can't beat Tony Starr's performance I mean CMON
