No problem! I can't imagine it'd hurt to do it every few months or so, though I wouldn't recommend removing the fan. Personally I have NOT cleaned the inside of the system since I did this (and I probably should) :p

Nice tutorial! Pretty easy and straightforward to install! Yes it's always a bit daunting to remove anything clipped together with plastic... I'm always afraid to break something but that fear only lasts for a couple of seconds lol! I definitely need one of these! Great video and keep up the good work!

Appreciate it! Popping off that cover was a little nerve-wracking but beyond that it wasn't too bad. Plus I remembered you CAN order replacement panels so if I broke one sure it'd be annoying but not the end of the world and not likely to destroy its functionality or anything.

Not too bad at all! I was worried about the thermal pad at first but so far I've had zero issues with it and REALLY nice having the extra space.

Quick question , when installing, the back sticker which is on the other side of the SSD? Should i remove it or leave it? The heat in there wont eventually damage or melt the sticker??? Thanks

I want a 2 TB upgrade so bad but the prices are still keeping me away. Every time I have an update I have to move a game from my internal to a USB hard drive juvst to make room. Shouldn't be such an issue in 2022.

It seems like there are sales periodically but I haven't seen a 2TB go under 300 and change yet I don't think?2TB would be nice but my biggest hope is that SSD prices overall keep dropping so I can use them more for editing/backups. Seems like they were at least a LITTLE cheaper for external ones at BB this year compared to last and I'm here for it! I keep a 5TB Passport hooked up to the PS5 as well to hold all my PS4 games or as an 'emergency' swap drive if I need to make space for something.

This blade ssd has worked well since m.2 update. It does get hot. Took of m.2 cover and now seems better. Question... can I add a second heatsink on top of blade?

Glad to hear it! I'm not sure on the heatsink though- I mean if it fits I wouldn't THINK it'd be a problem but you might want to check with their support on that one to be safe.

i just installed the ssd expansion using this video thanks a lot! i do have a question though, the heatskink being a bit smaller than the ssd itself and i may have not put it exactly in the middle with the exterior lines aligned. Could this have some negative consequences? I already moved a game to the expansion ssd and played it there so i worked fine

If it's just a bit off I don't think you'll have any major issues. I don't think mine was perfect either but it's still kicking today :)

I mean it MIGHT work but I don't know that I'd risk it. Or at least see if there's a 3rd party thermal pad that would work assuming you can't contact the manufacturer for a replacement pad.

It is indeed! :) Although not in my PS5 any longer- I upgrade to a 2TB drive for that and moved this over to my PC and it's still chugging along just fine!

Yowch, well, you might be able to use a hair dryer to separate, but I’d reach out to the manufacturer support to be safe and see what they advise

Any idea if I can reposition thermal pad once put on? I put it on a little lower than I’d like and now the insert part is a bit blocked off by the pad.

That I'm not sure about unfortunately. I suppose you could use heat to try and gently remove it, but I'd be afraid to damage any of the components- maybe contact their support?

Bwahaha it's not so bad! Again, the only part that gave me pause was popping that panel off but even if you hulked out on it by accident at least you can order official replacements! Looks like it's on Amazon UK so don't see why not! As for a PS5 Pro I'm almost CERTAIN we'll get a mid-generation refresh but then Sony also said this would be a shorter lifecycle for them than the PS4 so maybe they'll forego that entirely in favor of the PS6? But every previous PlayStation generation has had at least one revision so I'm sure well get SOMETHING even if it's just smaller than the behemoth it currently is :p

Yeah, I'd expect a mid life cycle updated version of the PS5 as well I might try getting this drive, I've enough memory ATM but will have to delete a couple of game to make room for Elden Ring & Horizon Forbidden West though. Still, great video and it'll come in handy if I do Dis you use a special screwdriver or can I use my regular ones?

I've got the same SSD. installation was easy and worked fine at first, but now the ps5 blue lights flashes then turns off. After taking out the SSD the PS5 works fine again 😳

Just bought one and installed it, half way through formatting it said it could not format the SSD. I tried removing and reseating the SSD but now the PS5 just flashes blue. Will try taking it out in a bit, still a bit panicked to be honest.
