@@TheJere213 not true. A shotgun can be used to hunt game like whitetail and black bear, actually super common to see shotguns with slugs being used up in Northern Appalachias. Youd only want to use a 12 gauge if you were trying to make sure you quickly kill the larger animal. A 20 gauge probably wouldnt have enough power to fully break through their shoulder for example. 16 gauge is called the "gentlemens shotguns" because it is a near perfect round for birdhunting, the common hobby of the European upperclass, or gentlemen, at one time.

Something important to point out that spike was obviously bothered by but didn't clarify for the non-hunters here. Hunting as a pretty robust set of rules that hunters abide by to respect the wildlife, the environment, and each other. A couple of which were touched in here. Shooting while obstructed is a big no no. You need to be able to positively ID your target for 2 major reasons. 1, to ensure what you're shooting at is something you want to kill, and 2, to ensure you land the shot in the best possible location to ensure a clean kill to prevent unnecessary suffering. The second one was the wanton shooting (ducks & moose). Wildly shooting at fleeing animals, especially when you already got a kill is not only disrespectful to the animals and other hunters potentially in the area, but also recklessly dangerous. You don't have time to ensure the area behind where your shooting doesn't contain things you wouldn't want to shoot.
@jeffwang64602 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the tactics people use in this game are pretty unrealistic. Because the game has a higher chance of spawning higher scoring animals the more animals you kill, lots of players will kill as many animals per herd as possible. But that shows gamers often find exploits to undermine developer intentions.

Isn't killing the animal in the first place disrespectful?
@rudolfhergat55562 жыл бұрын
@@jtsmphotography No. Real hunters respect their prey and nautre as a whole. When a hunter spots a game, it's always a tough choice if he should let it go, or kill it. You could say "it's easy, don't kill anything", but that's not how nature works. The deer you spoted has an effect on the plants of the forest he lives in, the other deers living in the same area, the predators (if there are any) in that area, other species in that area, the agriculture in that area. A real hunter respects all of the things I listed, and has to decide if that deer should live or not taking all of these in consideration. And if he decides to kill it, he is doing it in the fastest and least painful way, letting the game keeping it's dignity, if he can't let it keep it's life.

Ethics differ in diffeent countries. For example it feels very odd for me when I see ppl shooting sitting ducs with a rifle in this game. Here the onyl ethical way of hunting small game is with a shotgun and when the game is on the run, giving them the best chance to escape. Also here shooting a deer in the brisket from the front is considered unsportsman like, but I don't really know the reason behind this one.

Hunting is hard work, not always rewarding, and sometimes punishing. It takes a good deal of effort and preparation for a successful hunt. Whether it’s upland hunting, deer hunting, duck hunting, predator hunting, backpacking in the wild. It all takes hard work. That being said, I play games with some of my younger cousins and their friends, they play hunting games because they don’t have family who do the real thing. And that breaks my heart. It breaks my heart to see kids and adults who have a fire for such a thing but don’t have the opportunity to go do it. As a hunter, land owner and family man, it is so rewarding to take these kids and adults out to go on a hunt and introduce them to the loving activity. It’s in our DNA to get outdoors, conservation is key to helping making a sustaining ecosystem and to do that, the next generation has to get involved, not through video games but doing the real thing, so if you are a hunter and reading this, try to invite someone out who hasn’t done the real thing before.
