Thanks for this Jesse! Will definitely be trying out this structured approach

Thanks so much this is just amazing for aspirants like me . I am looking to do my Gamsat in 2023 as I am still finishing my undergrad degree in education.

High value video, adopting this strategy from today onwards. Thank you Wonder if this method can somehow apply to developing valuable ideas for section 2 themes?
@jesseosbourne3 жыл бұрын
Hmm that’s an interesting idea! It’s probably possible but just less Acer material to go off of

many thanks for sharing this method. sections I and II I'm not too worried about (without becoming complacent) but section III is definitely the kicker as an NSB. I don't expect to get the score I need first sitting - aiming to get it done in 2 max if I can, not least because that exam is painfully expensive - but giving it my best shot

Hopefully the first times the charm! Good luck

Great suggestions regarding using worksheets. My strategy has been since September I have dedicated each month to learning the content of biology, then physics etc. using Khan Academy, as I have found they have great info in 10 min videos and have quizzes on the content to check your learning. Among this I have also completed some questions from Acer but am saving them til Jan onwards once my content and reading is done.

Nice work, man! Sounds like you've got a really clear and methodical plan ahead of you. I think processing info in small and frequent chunks like this is one of the better ways to go at it

Hi Jesse ! I want thank you for your commitment in doing all the work you have done on your site ! It’s really great! I would ask you a question : I bought all Acer books; which is the “green booklet” you refer ? Because in the preview of the file pdf I bough , no one is green. Can you give me the title ? Thank tou!
@jesseosbourne Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear they've helped, Mark! Ah yeah, they recently changed the covers on their practice tests (used to be colour coded) but the content is all the same. Blue = Sample questions, Orange = Practice questions (free with registration), Green = Test 1, Purple = Test 2, Pink = Test 3

@@jesseosbourne Hi Jesse !thank you for kind answer! I looked to the book named “practice question” and then “practice test 1,2,3” and then “sample question” . I opened them , and basically is a test example , sometimes in section 1 has some notes but in section 3 has no explanation or help , but only final answer at the end of the book. Can you confirm that ? Thank you :)

Hi Jesse, I have been really enjoying your videos. I’m from a non science background trying to figure out where to start in preparing for S3 of the GAMSAT. Just wondering if you still have the checklists available that you refer to in the video? I had a quick look on your website but couldn’t see them there. Thanks heaps!
@jesseosbourne2 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, is that the S3 topics checklist you're referring to? It's on there - I reformatted the page a couple weeks back so there's a section 3 subheading and the first page under that is 'Section 3 Topic Checklist' :)
@mickaa55352 жыл бұрын
@@jesseosbourne thanks for the reply! Yes, I just went back on and I can’t see the subheading. Are you able to post the link here and I can try that?

Hi Jesse, as the September sitting is over are you available for online tutoring for someone from NSB.

When you say green booklet? I have got all the acer materials for this sitting but can't see a green booklet? Honestly I'm at a loss with how to study for the gamut, I really improves S1 and S2 but S3 is my downfall each time

Hi Jesse, thanks for the invaluable advice. Is this method appropriate for someone who doesn't even know the very basics of chemistry or physics. For example, not even knowing the periodic table? Cheers!

Hey there! I'd still suggest following this plan but you might find you need to add in a little more at the 'Research & Learn' step. TL;DR - Watch the crash course series if you haven't already seen them, get familiar with terminology rather than facts to the point that you can talk about scientific concepts you come across in the ACER material. I still thinking learning 'backwards' by identifying where errors occur is a more time efficient method in studying for GAMSAT, just because without a guide (such as the ACER material), it is easy to go off course and dive too deep into the theory that google searches bring. You'll find that outside concepts of science that are required for GAMSAT are often very foundational and often centres around the 'language of science' eg. Knowing what a concentration gradient is, understanding the concepts of charge interactions. If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out my crash course series here on YT. I've created these specifically for people with a NSB and they act as a quick checklist and review of all the relevant scientific principles relevant to GAMSAT. When you do get to the research and learn step, you might want to add in a focus on the terminology used in each area and what these words mean. You might learn best from a glossary or you might prefer to practice speaking about this concept and using these words with a friend (they don't necessarily have to know what you're talking about, it's just an opportunity for you to get comfortable with where it all fits in). Even still, most key words are defined or described in some way in the stems but being familiar with their meaning and their connection to other ideas is really helpful in terms of managing time and being able to process the stems at a reasonable speed. A short note on physics: I find that it is largely a platform for assessing mathematical skills and reasoning (fractions, ratios, %, patterns, proportionality) rather than requiring a deep knowledge of physics concepts. General understandings of how to represent scenarios as force diagrams and vectors is usually more than enough to start reasoning with physics questions. General physics principles such as conservation laws are popular and very flexible knowledge to have too. If this is your first sitting, I hope it all goes brilliantly for you, but keep in mind that it is common for candidates to sit more than once and S3 does have a steep learning curve to it. There is unfortunately no golden ticket in terms of study routine or process that I can prescribe that will work with certainty, and adjusting to the variability of GAMSAT is just one of its many challenges. Best of luck!

@@jesseosbourne Thanks Jesse. Super helpful advice! I will watch your crash course series and go from there. Also, do you happen to provide 1:1 tutoring by any chance? Thought I'd ask!
