Peter Jackson's LOTR was a home run. A 9.5. BUT HE LEFT OUT TOM BOMBADIL!!! This was a tragic omission. A crime against humanity! He said Bombadil didn't add to this story, didn't advance the plot. LOTR takes us out of banality and puts us in a magical world. And Bombadil was the most magical character in a magical story! Maybe in the future they could film these scenes and re-insert them into the films. Kinda of like when they released the extended version. Hey CGI can do anything these days!

I saw the movies first and thought they were pretty close to 10. Then I learned about the books and TB and his wife. I’ve got mixed feelings. I don’t know how they could’ve fit him in the movies but he was so important to the success of the fellowship that I don’t know how they could leave him out. They would need a 20 hour extended trilogy to make everyone happy.

I kinda agree but I feel like you have the wrong take on him. Tom Bombadil was significantly more prominent in the Hobbit. Tolkien didnt really a place for him but added him anyway cause his kids liked him. Him not being affected by the ring highlights the true power that the ring possesses. Corrupting those who have wants while Tom is absolutely content. Him showing up and then exiting out of the plot cements the dark turn that LotR takes and the last of Frodo's innocence of the world vanishing. ​@user-th3ll8rl7i

Yep. I think they should make that instead of The Hunt for Gollum. It would be a bit of a change in tone from the main movie, but I think it could still be good. Reading LotR as a kid, I found it hard to read Tom Bombadil's singing parts. Only after hearing the audio book decades later of Andy Serkis reading LotR did I get a better understanding of the way the character was written and the joy of his whimsical personality. When I saw you were going to portray Bombadil I was skeptical that it was going to be pretty cringey but hot damn, I shouldn't be surprised; as a testament to your own skill, you not only captured the character so well but even finessed in your own comedic style and that was magical, Bravo!

Finally got around to watching this, and ngl. For the first time ever, I truly understand how Tom Bombadil was meant to be, tune wise.
