Driving the wrong way over a pedestrian crossing, how crazy can you get?

There was a clip on one of the dashcam channels a while back where someone (drunk) went the wrong side of a central refuge and clean bowled over a pedestrian. The hero cammer dropped off his passenger to attend to the pedestrian and went off after the offender, while calling the police. Driver was prosectued.

In the past I have reported the multiple bad acts of a van driver to his company#s transport manager. Appearing indifferent at first he took genuine interest when he realised I was simply a witness (no traffic altercation) and more significantly how how I got his company details - off his company's van!

We have people like that around here, they are called traffic police. Too bad they are usually camping spots where people tend to speed a bit without it really being an issue. Sure, you have to stick to the limit everywhere, but I'd rather they stake out spots where speeding or behaviour like in this video actually causes danger. They'll catch fewer people, but the impact will be greater.

Wish the same thing though I feel I help alongside with my dashcam submissions. There are times though where I feel some cases should be taken action on but didn't. Only thing I could think of is lack of time as the met must be getting lots of submissions coming in now. One submission took 10 days before they told me they sent the driver a warning letter for aggressively edging in my lane when he realised the wrong lane he used to queue jump was blocked by a car in front of him

Love the footage. How do you find out the results of the ones you report to the police? When I report in Lancashire all I get back is: Your footage has been viewed by members of the OpSnapLancs team and we are in agreement with you that the standard of driving shown by the other driver fell below the minimum standard that should be shown on the roads today. We will write to the registered keeper of the vehicle involved, requiring them to identify the driver. Once the driver has been identified then we will assess the most appropriate outcome, which could be; 1.            An advice letter 2.            A Driver Educational Course. 3.            A conditional offer of points and a fine. 4.            A summons to court.

In defence of UPS drivers (since I am one lol) the proper trained driver did the right thing, the guy in the first UPS van is not a UPS delivery driver; they would NEVER let a driver go delivering out of uniform. I’m guessing there was something wrong with the van and he was a UPS mechanic who had brought a van out to the driver and swapped everything over, and the mechanic was heading back to the centre.

*Mikey, not Mickey. Yes, good comment and of course I have concerns - it's wrong, and they shouldn't do it. There are several reasons why I don't deal with motorcyclists and cyclists doing this: 1) By far the most danger comes from the car drivers doing this, not only because of their size and mass, but also because of the speed and carelessness which many drivers go through here. In contrast most motorcyclists and cyclists are much more careful when doing this. Two wheelers have skin in the game, drivers do not. 2) I have limited spare time, and I'm not going to spend all of it doing this. That means I'll focus on the most dangerous, being the drivers. This is fairness. It's also my choice. 3) I don't feel able to stop cyclists or motorcyclists doing this as if they fell off because of me stopping them I'd be on very dodgy moral and legal grounds. 4) Whilst I can report the motorcyclists who do this, I tend only to report the few who do it dangerously. I obviously can't report the cyclists, so all I do is occasionally scold them from the corner. 5) The Royal Parks police do much the same - rarely stopping cyclists and motorcyclists, and often stopping the drivers when they stake out this junction. That's a good sense check that I'm doing the right thing. 6) If you want to come down and stop cyclists, feel free to do so. I'll happily film and support you. 7) I can only stop one person at a time. If I've stopped a car, then trying to stop a cyclist would simply result in both easily getting past me. 8) It's classic whataboutery to complain about a different thing when I'm dealing with drivers. The focus of this video is the driver.

Stationary phone drivers are still dangerous for many reasons: 1) Should a child or shorter person cross in front of them they wouldn't even see them, and would likely then move off, running them over. Notice how WFN364 (google for videos) drives forwards whilst looking at his phone? This is common behaviour from phone drivers. Here's an example someone else caught where the driver almost takes out a pedestrian at a crossing: twitter.com/phonekills/status/1491526464520560641?s=20 2) They are entirely unaware of filtering cyclists and motorcyclists. These drivers are often slow to react when the queue starts moving, and then when someone behind them beeps they drop the phone and hastily move off without even looking. 3) If you imagine these people only use their phones when queuing at the traffic lights, that's terribly naïve. The gardener in LM63BTZ was on the phone whilst driving along, and quite likely had been doing it for some considerable part of his journey. These phone users are constantly using their phones, but it's just much easier to catch them when they're in the queue. 4) Phone distraction lasts for a good 10 minutes after you put the phone away. Even if you're only using the phone in each traffic queue at each junction (which is highly unlikely), then you're constantly topping up your mental distraction and are basically as disabled as a drunk driver. 5) Phone driving is worse than drink driving for distraction rates, and that's why it's part of the #Fatal4 behaviours that police target heavily. 6) Mobile phone laws are about to get even more restrictive because of the govt, police, DfT all recognising the danger of phone use. New laws making it even more strict and easy to catch came in on 25th March 2022. 7) People who knowingly break minor driving law will likely also break more serious laws. Strong policing of minor traffic offences has a strong effect on reducing collisions resulting in killed and seriously injured people. It's good to police these phone drivers. I'm really not interested in this nonsense of "it's not dangerous when stationary, because it clearly is and it's clearly still very appropriate to catch these drivers.

Like this guy: you stopped him, he then did the right thing and returned to the queue, then was able to make his turn, all within a minute. A much better response than that NHS lady that got out of her car and called the police on herself 😂 I do similar things to this when I'm driving and biking, not for the sake of my own safety or convenience, but for that of the whole public. Drivers are getting worse and worse these days. I purposefully walked out to cross a roundabout corner, infront of a guy not indicating to turn off, then he has the audacity to open his door and look back at me shouting, only to shut up when I'm shouting to use his indicator. It baffles me how people don't have the brain capacity to flick a switch, yet has enough brain cells to open the car door. Grade A plebs on the road today, I'm worried for the day when I get a car. 36 years old though, so I probably won't bother. I've gone this long without.
