My Girlfriend bought me tickets to see you guys Live!!! I told her how your band saved me from extremely hard times in my life, helps me get through my depression to this day and helped save me from committing suicide. I have had a long journey and your band has been with me for most of it. And is still here with me as I embark on a new journey going forward. You guys have a show coming up on September 16th in Saint Louis that we will be going to! I was so scared because It never crossed my mind if you guys were LGBTQ+ supportive. And seeing that you are fills my spirit even more. So please excuse me if you see me crying at your show next to my girlfriend lol. You have no idea how much your music has impacted my life. Forever greatful you guys exist. Literally, your music helped me in so many ways. And has saved my life. Say Yes to Life!

When I moved to London, a few years back, I was feeling low. Really low, to be honest. That's when I very luckily discovered Gang of Youths. I was listening to your songs on very long, very lonely bus rides in a city I was failing to make my own, a city I felt was rejecting me even if I was head over heels with it. I still remember that feeling, I still live in that feeling some nights. Now, years passed, I'm finally in London in the truest, no longer a passenger that's tolerated, no longer on a lonely bus ride somewhere I didn't know. The city now gets me. I feel good here, welcomed. And I have the love of my life at my side; I did before as well, in the dark days, but now I really can enjoy it, appreciate it, be swooned by it and by our life here. Things are falling back into place and you guys put out this amazing, stunning, deep and powerful song. I recognize places, faces and feelings in this video, and I smile when you smile. Thank you and I can't wait for you to be the first band I see live after lockdown.

So we got straight to the heart And I was a coward and worse to my shame I fell hard upon the weightless weeks And wasted every day 'Til you emerged in the park Like some patron of Washington Square For the first time in a long time Inside everything stood clear So went out to find me a job But I didn't think I would hold this one down It gives the same old sinking feeling Of fucking hammers in my bowels But you are good to me still And when my old man was near to the end You loved his broken body In the same way that I did I wanna lay me down And be lover of the year In this strange new town This strange hemisphere God, it was state of the art You called each of my sorrows by name And a tide of tender mercies Shook my body from the grave And in the festival years Of our makeshift parade In perpetual fall And immeasurable rain I wanna see this one out And I wanna join the impossible swing And fall hard beside you Screaming at the bowels of everything And in the Islington morn You're the angel of 8th And what's more, the goddamn Greatest thing that Laney ever made I wanna lay me down And be lover of the year And in this strange new town This strange hemisphere You persuade me now To look closer in the mirror And I wanna lay me down For years and years and years and years Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now There is heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now Ah, there's heaven in you now There is heaven in you now Now, now

This song mashes so much goodness together, it's hard not to love. Grown-up punked-up speed and energy, that New Order-esque bass, illustrative wordplay that could be here there or anywhere (Islington UK, Washington Square NYC). How anyone could be anything less than inspired and mad about this band is beyond me.
