The walls were and other parts of the temple were dismantled at the orders of British officers in PWD. During the British rule the locals were helpless. Conversion by Missionary was in full swing. Infact he local Chieftain of Udayarpalayam did several restoration works and did yeoman services to the temple. You can also mention those constructions by Udayarpalayam Chieftains.

Rajendra Chola never done anything to avenge his father , he had keen respect and attention to his father , if not he would not be even a great monarch and too subjects and officials would not accept him as their sovereign . In whatever cases it might be , if Rajendra Chola 1 wanted to avenge his father he would built still more marvelous Architecture .

Dear Kumar, The walls and other parts of the temple were dismantled at the orders of British officers in PWD. The locals were helpless during the times of British rule. Conversion by Missionary was in full swing. Infact the local Chieftain of Udayarpalayam did several restoration works for the temple and yeoman services to the temple. There are several restoration by succeeding Chieftains of Udayarpalayam.
