Ganglion Cyst Aspiration

Ganglion cysts are small, smooth, cystic swellings, that are usually attached to the adjacent underlying joint capsule, tendon sheath or tendon, and contain clear fluid. The fluid may be drained for immediate relief, in a procedure known as aspiration. This involves the insertion of a syringe into the cyst, which withdraws the fluid. Aspiration of a ganglion is not usually considered a permanent fix, as more fluid can build up in the cyst over time.

Lucky you. I had done aspiration exactly 2 years ago, I was really happy that I was ganglion free all that time and it has just now grown again and it's really painful (probably near a vein). Need to get it done again. -_-

Just now seeing this for some reason but I'm so sorry to hear that - mine was causing a lot of discomfort at the time due to the size and how much it was pressing up against the joints and bones but definitely not painful imo. I would get that entire sac taken out if I were you. Errh... I guess it's been a year so hopefully you're cyst/pain free now!!

@@anasfahim2978 Exactly how this video shows - Through an aspiration/Big syringe pulling out the clear jelly like joint fluid. I probably have the sac in there still (unless it somehow disintegrated) but luckily the cyst hasn't come back or joint fluid hasn't refilled the sac in over 8 years now.

I had one aspirated and one popped when I was playing tennis. The one that was aspirated was cool. The Dr. squirted the fluid onto a 4x4 and we kind of played with it. It looked like a pile of brownish..grayish gelatin. Felt like it too. Weird. Anyway...came back. Dr. told me it was synovial fluid. I'm just glad it didn't hurt. Over 40 years ago, after uselessly wearing a cast for 6 weeks, i read somewhere that a hard blow with a heavy book would disperse it. I forced my reluctant husband to smash my wrist with a huge heavy book. After I finished rolling about in agony, I saw that the ganglion had gone. A few days of wearing a crepe bandage, it had gone forever. I wouldn't recommend it though.

The old school way which is still highly effective to get rid of these cyst is to lay the hand and wrist flat on a table, Then wack it HARD a few times with a Bible or phone book. Hurt for a day but worked well.
