It is remarkable that every piece of music every melody has soooooo much character to it. The songs itself tell a story about the character or setting it portrays. Reminds me of prokovief's Peter and the wolf.

I was 16 - same though - an experience I'll never forget. In 2001, at 26, I finally went to Disneyland and did the Pirates of the Caribbean ride there, and damn it triggered my nostalgia for that game any my teenage years. It wasn't until much later I read that the game was partly inspired by the ride. Making the 12 hour flight to LA again in October this year, and the thing that excites me the most about being in the US again is going on Pirates of the Caribbean. I just hope they haven't messed with it too much since the movies.

One of the best soundtracks ever - and I mean not just games but also compared to films! We should embrace the genius of Michael Land combining reggae with actually bits of chamber music, baroque, classic in general and rock and jazz bits. This is really something outstanding.

Yes! I've never listened all the way through until today, and those ending tracks seriously sound like something out of a film. The Tunnels one is especially beautiful. It really takes you through a journey in just under 10 mins.

the real sequal is never made. The creator Ron Gilbert left the company. LucasArts did their MI3 without the real story Ron had in the inception of the series. I still hope for the real MI3 , called MI3a by Ron to come one day but it's difficult since the IP is owned by Disney now.

Amazing to think theres less than 2 hours music in this whole game, i played it for MONTHS back in the early 90's no internet back then and if you got stuck that was pretty much it until someone told you the solution

The music even sounded good if you didn't have a sound card, although they stopped the PC speaker support from Day of the Tentacle onwards...though you could even play that if you were still stuck with a 286. Lucasarts was a great game developer!

You know I made that graphic right? It's from a scan of the KIXX box and then expanded with a scan of the LucasArts box, and the version there has the background darkened. Do you know if there is another place where there is the same effect as in WoodTick: (Copied from Wikipedia:) Usage One often cited example of the iMUSE system is at the very beginning of Monkey Island 2 where Guybrush finds himself in Woodtick, the small town on Scabb Island. Whenever Guybrush walks into a building, a variation of the Woodtick theme plays, each with a different instrument.[10] When Guybrush then walks out again the music has a closing flourish that leads back into the basic Woodtick theme. Basically one scene divided in several rooms which more or less share the same score but have some variations in the instruments, and some specific score in each room. Woodtick has maybe 7 or 8 different rooms and you spend quite some time in it during the game that it's quite synonymous with MI2, but I don't remember any other place with the effect described on Wikipedia

After playing this a lot (and also getting dissapointed at the ending everytime) I came to think this: People consider MI2 the greatest game of all the saga; however in my opinion, Curse of Monkey Island has better and more memorable characters: Murray, Haggis, Rottingam, Griswold Goodsoup, Morty the undertaker, the eternal Stan, Yellowbeard and many more.

Characterization wasn't as easy with a bunch of pixels and without VA in 1991, so I do think it's not a fair comparison. Where MI2 shines (and absolutely overshadows CMI in my opinion) is in the puzzles, the story and length. It also has an unmatched creepy feel to it.
