Here after India's world cup win. The fanboys who started watching cricket in lockdown, who cussed him after Kohli's captaincy incident - will you guys show your faces now? Every single decision he took as BCCI's president has proved to be giving fruit. Appointed Dravid as next India coach, pushed Rohit as next India captain, every single decision of his has been wonderfully calculated. Rahul Dravid took India in 2023 WTC final (India lost), 2022 T20 world cup semifinal (India was humiliated by England), 2023 ODI world cup (undefeated throughout, but lost the final against Australia), and then today's day. We have been so close every time. And people who says he didn't win any trophy - yes he didn't. He couldn't. But his team, the team he made from scratch won the 2007 T20 world cup and 2011 world cup. He brought and promoted new players like Sehwag, Yuvraj, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan and we got the result. He did what was best for Indian cricket at that time, which bore fruits because he thought about the future, he thought about building the team, the system. Now come and criticise him lockdown kids, that why he took Kohli's captaincy. That was the right decision at the right time, although I feel Rohit should have been made captain years ago, around 2018-2019 because he was still in that age. I want to see the faces of those kids who still think playing good cricket on the ground, romanticising about star players will win you world cups. A team win you a world cup, the system wins you tournaments. Right decision at the right time creates platform for right people. You won't understand Ganguly's contribution because we live in a fool's paradise.

Agreed except that although shared, India did win champions trophy in 2002 under Ganguly. In the 4 times that he captained, India reached finals 3 times which was a feat in itself considering the quality of oppositions and conditions he faced while also building a team for the future when India was plagued with match fixing scandals. No other Indian captain could've done what he did.. Many captains may come and go but Sourav Ganguly is the best inspirational Indian captain / leader ever.
