I was 10 m away from the guy who coughed on hole 10. It was the loudest cough I've ever heard in my life and clearly deliberate. The guy claimed a bug flew in his mouth which was clearly a lie. A couple of officials stopped to guard him after which two security guards came along to escort him away. The guy was around 60 years old and together with a young woman. At that moment it seemed clear to me that it must have affected Gannon and almost lost him the tournament.

We should ease a little with this narrative where every other week the guy who wins is the greatest to have ever played the game. One week it's Calvin, then AB, then Gannon or Isaac. The fact is all of these guys are still miles away from Ricky's and Paul's class and this tournament just reminded us of that again even if Gannon did win.
@untrustworthyshelfing9953
@untrustworthyshelfing9953 Ай бұрын
@@tml7189 What narrative? I don't think anybody called Andrew Presnell the GOAT when he won earlier this year. Per the original comment: "Gannon if he continues on this trajectory will go down as the GOAT no question about it." The future tense being the key here. Paul Ulibari in this very video said it well: "Ricky is playing the best I've ever seen him play, and Gannon wasn't playing his best." But I guess speculating about an incredibly talented 19 year old is against the random rules of how to engage the sport, per you. Your last sentence is total nonsense. Miles away from the guys he just beat?

Ricky drive on 15 was covered live, he was clearly ripping a driver on a go-for-it play and the commentary just dropped the ball in one of those moments where they were talking about something else through the shot and by the time the camera came back to it in the fairway they just assumed the layup play from round 3 which was not the case. Super lucky kick, result, a big reason Rick was even still in it for the final stretch, and a missed opportunity for added drama from the booth. Red driver in round 4 was clearly not the same white putter layup play as round 3 but ended up not really mattering once they both took par.

Slow play rules are tough to craft just right. I would suggest having some explicit carve-outs ("unusual circumstances"?) which allow some extra time and ones which don't (like fidgeting over a 20' unobstructed putt or tee shot for 45 seconds). We all know slow play when we see it, but defining it is tricky.

Idea for a series, let med present The Ricky Show! Where one random amateur/professional player starts a round with a good amount of birdies, example -5. Then they play a round together and Ricky is chasing them from even and we will see how many holes it takes for Ricky to take the win or if he can chase them down. Allowing Ricky to take a practise round before is up to the competitor. Prize money for Rickys competitor if they can win.

Brodie, putts are a crucial pressure-packed part of the narrative. They aren’t boring, or I guess to me they aren’t. Five-foot tap-ins on camera might be boring…I’ll give you that. But even then, the tap-in is like a mini celebration of the throw that got you there.

Brodie, I would say vip ticket holders were fine at Tampere. Some holes though you could only see like the beginning of the flight for the tee shot even for us VIP but we could see most of the shots. I don’t think we need to see every shot though. But the monster is such a great course and it’s soo difficult. I also feel they could also make it harder as well. I love hole 6(the one with the big hill) it’s such a specific shot. The ideal shot is to hit the hill of the left and have a 10-20ft putt.

I think the reasonable way to do custom discs is through custom stamps. The first company to create a system to incorporate custom stamps as one-offs when purchasing discs, no minimum orders, will make money. You could charge more than the cost for the darn disc for custom stamps if that's what it took to actually cover the costs of doing this. You don't have to buy it if you think it costs to much, but the people who want it, will. And people will.

Evalina and Paige have the same issue. They have little strategy for playing these courses, its pure aggresion and bullying. If they are on they look great; if not, its kind of a trainwreck. Prodigy absolutely fumbled your statistically best option to have the literal goat forever. Paul said it best around 1:25:00 Ricky was playing the best we’ve seen, and Gannon wasn’t. Gannon’s ceiling is the highest in the game (other than AB) and he’s found a consistency AB hasn’t. Sure Gannon doesn’t sell discs now, but after 5-10 years of being this dominant he will have discs sales the likes of McBeth. I don’t know how the CEO of Prodigy isn’t fired. You got given a Golden Goose on a silver platter… and you let it get away. Your only job. Keep Gannon happy. Literally the only job

I think I found a way to get hole 16 good with the drop zones. I think first out of bounds throw should go to the farther drop zone and second out of bound throw goes to the 45 foot drop zone that way you can throw first one in bounds and it’s still nervewracking upshot and people actually may layup and play smart par. And that way the hole can still eat people up and you can take like triple bogey if you throw couple bad ones

A "late call" by an official may be the result of him giving the warned player a pass earlier, but eventually will be forced to issue the warning because recurringly taking extra time gives an edge other things equal. Rules are defined by them being the same for everyone, even when (or particularly when) they seem unreasonable in certain situations. This is universal in sports: Because pushing boundaries tend to give an edge, athletes keep pushing boundaries until someone has to interfere and que the "but everyone else was doing it" controversy. It is actually logical that rules will be monitored and enforced increasingly rigorously the tighter the competition gets. You know what is even worse than official making a call that interferes with a player to an extent it might impact his performance? -That no such call is made at all and the winner is stuck with an asterisk without any possibility to correct themselves. Gannon's win is unquestionable. Whether the rule should be changed is another discussion. Apologies for the essay.
