I did this decoration for ganpati at my place. It takes time to make this as there's lot of cutting and pasting. 0.5 mm strip is of cardboard and 5, 6 cm gray strip is of box board. If you can't find box board, you can use cardboard and stick gray paper on it.

Madam there are different cardboards in shop , different width and type … which one we should ask for please guide

Any cardboard will work. But the size of the cardboard is small then the no. of cardboard will increase and if the size of cardboard is large then the quantity will decrease. And if you use good quality cardboard then it's best.
