Description of Ganzo D727M Knife:
Ganzo 727M model is designed to meet at maximum the needs of tourists and other country lovers, and people who need a pocket knife on a daily basis. This folding knife works effectively with a variety of materials: food, textiles, sticks, etc. Therefore, it will be an excellent support tool for fishermen, campers, servicemen.
The base material for Ganzo 727M knife is D2 stainless steel. It is corrosion resistant, but it is rather hard (60 HRC) alloy which is widely used in production of tourist knives. The blade length reaches 8.9 cm and its thickness from the spine side is 3.5 cm. The knife is entirely smoothly sharpened that allows smooth and accurate cuts.
The handle of every Ganzo 727M knife is covered with straps from G10 fiber-glass plastic. This is a modern composite material with high wear resistance and ability to withstand exposure to many chemically active substances. Four color options for handles are available to choose: black, green the handle surface is textured for firm handling. Also, the producers thoughtfully placed a clip ton the handle to fasten the knife to the belt and a hole for threading the lanyard.

I got one and the grip of the g10 handle is way better then the rat 1 I have. Its a great knife for the money.

Yes, I agree. The G10 is a better handle choice, and it is done well by Ganzo. I am thinking I want to pick up the 440C version in case they stop making them.

I don't own either the Rat or this Ganzo, but have been curious about the upgraded D2 steel. Looks like Ganzo is taking it to the Rat with steel, "G" lock, and weight-reducing cutouts as well as price....all making the "Far Side" cartoon very clucking appropriate.

I have seen Ganzo D2 hit the 60.5 and 61 on someone's HRC testing. That is a good number. If they hit that number on this model too, Nice!! I spent the last several days carrying the Ganzo G729, G727m and the G704. They are great knives, especially for the money. I appreciate you for commenting on the jokes.

Hola Rusty. En diferentes momentos había comprado ambas navajas y ambas las he regalado a muy buenos amigos. La Rat 1 se fue con un joven apicultor que la sometido al trabajo duro cuando le mantenimiento a sus colmenas, y la Ganzo la regalé a otro amigo que tiene un supermercado y la usa para abrir cajas y paquetes. Para mi la Ganzo era ideal para el EDC urbano, y la Rat para el trabajo duro.

You are very generous my friend. I can see why you are missing both of those knives. They are very practical knives. They can both do hard work and or smaller tasks. I do agree the Rat is better for hard work has it has a bigger blade and many body pins for support. And the grocer should really find the Ganzo handy in his line of work.

You are welcome my friend. I think many others have compared it to the Rat's and I'm hard pressed to pick a winner. I think for gifting, I would gift the Ganzo. Cheaper, stronger lock and better steel. I love the deployment on the Rat however.

@@utubepunk Very generous. I have 7 nieces and nephews, none are 16 years old yet, so they have only gotten "gas station knives", but I want to gift them a nice knife when the turn 18. The knife will depend on their personality and their projected line of work, but Ganzo would be in the running. I don't think the price is something that needs to be considered as the Ganzo could justify the same price as the Ontario, IMO

Bought one years ago and got a lot of use out of it. In time, I moved on to smaller knives so I picked up the smaller model which suited my needs and lifestyle more. Had the Rat 2 bur liked Ganzos version better. It was thinner and, of course I liked the G-lock better. Yes, I know that those 2 Ganzo models were heavily inspired by the Rara, but I'm not judging - buy which ever suites you.

The Ontario Rat is hard to beat, but Ganzo does on many levels. I agree, the G-lock is nicer. It has G-10 which is preferred by more people, but I am ok with the Rat nylon handle. 440C blade steel beats the Aus8, but only by a little. For the money, Ganzo is the winner. But I got to have my Rat also.

That's funny! I just got the 440C version in the mail today. You can find it with camo scales on Amazon for $17 right now. Either way, the knife is fantastic!!

With Ganzo's heat treat, that might actually challenge the RAT 1 and RAT 2! Have the 440C version and while I'm not crazy about how stiff the action is, it really is a cool knife, particularly in the size dimension. EDIT: I'm also a HUGE Far Side fan!

I agree JW. The size is almost perfect for me. Ganzo can hang with Ontario on the steel performance from what I have seen. Frankie and Bird did Ganzo 440c to Ontario Aus8. Ganzo won slightly if I remember correctly. Don't remember seeing any Ganzo edge retention testing on their D2. But I have seen HRC at 60.5 and 61 at Luv them Knives

@@rustyminer Outpost76 did Ganzo D2 edge retention testing on cardboard, which means deliberately over-stressing the edge. Knife was an FH51, I think, but did incredibly well.

I'm going to be getting some Ganzos for sure. Probably not their Rat knock off, tho. I'm certain it's a good knife. The real Rat is way too affordable with lots of awesome aftermarket parts & accessories: scales, backspace, clips. You can really pimp it out.

Hi Rusty, looks like they are not getting the edge sharpened down at the base of the blade. I would encourage them to keep sharpening all the way down the edge. Still a great buy.

Hi Tom, I've experienced this with more than one brand. Overnight, Ganzo is on the better end of factory edges. I've had some that have been really good. But you're right, this one is not great all the way through

Does it use an omega spring that you can get somewhere?

I am not sure. It seems like you could use Omega replacement spring I'm general because I think the holes line up. Your tension would probably vary. They're pretty strong now. Ganzo springs have a reputation for not breaking

Hello, I don't have experience with the 764. I saw that it was a bit thicker behind the edge. I'm happy with the Ganzo G727 behind the edge thickness. I don't have an instrument to measure the number though. It comparable to Ontario Rat, maybe a bit thinner. Now, be aware, the D727m is out and it's made of D2 steel. I'm guessing it's the same measurements as the G727m

Morning Dan, I buy almost all of my knives to see how I like them. Knives like this I see similarities in, so I see how this compares to the Rat. I actually see a lot of things I like in the Ganzo, (it's a tad smaller than the Rat, and the lock gives me the impression that it is safer). I still LOVE the Rat though. Which knife are you hoping for in 14C28N? That's a favorite steel of mine as well.
