I never knew anything about percussion but I know what I like and have ALWAYS liked this. The beat, the drums, the funky sound, the vocals. It all works so well together. But you can hear the drum carries the core. Love it!

You know you have something unique when you can play 4 measures from a band’s catalog and immediately know the artist. These guys had that kind of sound - Very distinctive. And still influential. I love The Gap Band!

A note about bassist Robert Wilson's hat. Folding up the brim like that makes marching with a rifle easier. Probably also works with a guitar. The whole band is doing it in the video for "You Drop a Bomb on Me." Don't laugh at the hats and the Roy Rogers shirts, they're all from Tulsa!

He did do the " moonwalk" - in my early 20's in the 1980's- this music was the BOMB.... Friday , Saturday nights we'd all go dancing...clubbing to all this type of music...so much fun & was in shape from sweating/dancing it off!!

The man i married i didnt know was a rude & stupid racist! He kept tell n me i couldny get my pic with 1 of the singers as i was n my handerchif knee hugh wed n dress. Instead of grab n my hand & kiss n me he walked off as fast as he could 10 feet in front of me leave n a very kind young woman complimenting my wedding dress & how nice i looked. When i looked back my new hubby was 18 feet away from me. U white girls never marry a racists white man & never keep date n him for 5 yrs until u know how hes gonna treat u n front of your friends. Haters got no game up n my caucasision/native cherokee heart!

pashon4percushon , early 70s. " The Moonwalk " is the re-making of a dance move from the 30's called " The Slide ". Tap dancers of THAT era used it as part of their repertoire.
