Hello It's Me Most people use a gap year as a chance to work and save up money before uni. Maybe you actually look at it before you judge.

I agree with gap-year. I think there are there are three main advantages of taking a gap-year. Students perform better in school, open their minds to other cultures and learn important survival skills. However, in Korea, gap-years are not as popular among other countries.

@JustDeenie8 жыл бұрын
Never panic! My sister left college aged 18 without A Levels and ended up working all around the world doing what she loved - success isn't academic, it's about finding what makes you happy! Plus, if you ever did feel like you wanted to get academic qualifications, it's never too late! Don't worry :)

More than likely taking a gap semester this spring. But I don’t understand how I can just travel like a lot of other people are able to, when they do things like this. I’d like to but I have no idea how. 😐 I’d rather not be stuck back home just working a full time job, or whatever it is you mostly do.

Im planning on doing a gap year now after my application for student finance completely failed and now i have no time to get the correct documents for them and its such a big struggle as well with the virus and without knowing whats going to happen in September with courses (them being online). I feel like I also will fail my alevels despite not even doing them lol even though my predicted grades are really good my mocks were just...very bad 😂🤭 so i thought instead of staying at college for another year id retake my alevels privately and do another alevel in a language after traveling ie. just pay for the exam and sit it. Bit of topic from your question but youre not alone lol! I have no idea what to do lmao but if you do end up doing a gap year consider traveling and working alongside the alevel as well as it’ll make it so much more amazing and hopefully itll make you prepared for uni :)

@@mariacakulova9201 sorry for late response! I hadn't seen this comment until I got a notification that someone had liked my original comment. I would just like to say thank you for reassuring me. I will try to work at the same time because it will help for uni (as you said). The main reason I want to do more a-levels is because I am really not sure what I want to do with my life. I want to try to get into a good university but I am not sure if I will be capable after a gap year. Everybody I know seems to know what they want to do but I feel adrift in sea of life decisions. I am in year 12 btw so I hope these unprecedented times work out for you, as you are in year 13. I hope things for both of us work out (it might take a while for me).

Hey! I just finished my final year of high school and I've been putting off making a plan all year. I have now decided to take a year off, any advice to give? thanks :D Loved the video, just subscribed
@JustDeenie8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for subbing! The first bit of advice I'd give is make sure you have fun every day, a year can seem like a while but it slips by fast, so make every single day count (even if just a nice walk, or a day watching your favourite movies)! If you're planning on travelling, then there's a whole world of amazing travel blogs and youtube channels to give you inspiration and tips (from places to go, to budgeting, to safety). If you're not travelling, then try to pick up a few new hobbies! Even if you don't stick with them, it's a year for you to try out new things that you might not have time to do otherwise. You might find a fun new sport that you love, or even a creative hobby that could lead to meeting new people or even a future career. But above all, enjoy it! Hope this helped, any more questions feel free to ask! :) :)

Hey I’m thinking about whether or not to take a gap year and was wondering how much money do you think I’d need to save in order to go interrailing? Also, did it bother you at all going into uni a year older than everyone else or did no one care?
@JustDeenie5 жыл бұрын
I think I saved about £2000 for interrailing but as I didn't plan anything it's definitely possible to do it a LOT cheaper with prior planning, it depends where you go too, some people manage a month for less than £1000! And honestly it didn't matter in the slightest, in fact half of the people I met were the same age as me or older - people come from all sorts of situations :)

how did you go about taking a gap year and still secure a place at the uni u wanted to go? did u already have a place and just told them that you want a year off or did you just take the year off and apply later??
@JustDeenie7 жыл бұрын
I already had my place at Uni, so I emailed them and asked if I could defer it for a year, and they were fine with it! But I know a bunch of people that took a gap year without a Uni place and applied later and it worked out great for them :)

I just finished college and just like you said the burden of getting straight into uni spending whole 4 years there really stresses me out. I am currently considering of taking a gap year to better my mental health but I fear wasting the whole year. Was it easy for you to plan out the whole year ahead? How long did it take?
@JustDeenie6 жыл бұрын
To be honest I didn't really plan a lot! Other than applying to jobs, everything I did during the year was quite spontaneous - but I know people who had planned out everything and it doesn't take more than a week or two if that's what you'd rather. But if you're considering it, I would recommend taking one, your mental health is worth it!

Ah this makes me feel better. I've always intended to have a gap year to travel & work etc. The thought of travelling is the only thing that's going to get me through this second year of A levels hahah. I've started to doubt wherever to simply because people around me are planning uni applications, makes me feel like I'm missing out a little bit. Kind of worried about being a year older than my flat mates as well, not that a year makes that much difference ❤❤
