It’s interesting the dynamic with students homeboys have to take a gap year. Thanks for having this important discussion!

The school system in Canada vs Jamaica were i moved at 14 was very different. I loved the challenge and the independence however I'm glad i took that gap year (which turned into 5 🤣). Getting experience in the real world on my own as an adult and not living with my parents gave me so much confidence when I finally did apply for college. Great video!

I think gap years are good. Everyone thinks they need to do it in 4 years because it the status quo, but it really whatever works for that individual!

Is it too late for me to take a gap year? I’m already out of uni, I just need a break haha. I honestly wish I could’ve tbh. Thanks for sharing:)
@scillaasa4 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Lots of people take post-uni gap years. Most people opt for a couple months of work to save some money and then go traveling and also do something useful such as developing skills that employers find attractive eg living in another country and learning a new language etc. Never too late for anything in life ☺️❤️

That's good money on a gap year I think..you would have money to sort things out while you get back to school.

This is so easy for those who are freshly out of uni with people with so much family responsibilities no no but depends on choice though 🤭

Should I rewrite my personal statement after a gap year or can I use the same one I used last year if my grades are fine?
@scillaasa3 жыл бұрын
I strongly advise that you make changes to your personal statement. Admissions officers want to see that you’ve used your gap year productively and have gained some insight into the course you’re applying for. If you got any work experience (which I doubt, because of Covid) briefly explain how it has impacted your application to the course and what you’ve learnt from it. If you’ve taken any online courses, read books etc relating to your course, talk about them and again what you’re learnt from them; the insight you’ve gained into your future career really. You’ll come across a bit lazy and unmotivated about your course if you just send the same old PS, especially if you’re applying to the same unis you applied to in the previous cycle.
