When I was doing daily videos on tou tube it was fine. Work from 7:30 til 5pm, shoot on the way to work and to home, then stay up till 2 or three editing. Didn't do it for long, everything else in my life changed and the CBFs took hold I have been meaning to do a podcast for 4 years, but here I am not. Being an anxious person, and I know things are about to change with a a kid maybe on the way( another story) and moving/buying a house and I am anxious about not continuing to produce stuff. The starting doesn't bother me the failing does. If you know what I mean. Right before covid I put out a casting call for a general you tube sketch channel and vlog( fat and ordinary, since that is how I feel much of the time) got a really good response and had already written scripts for about 15 stories about working in retail as a smart arse. I had 9 people fully committed to come on board and it was going to be fun.... Now.....meh. I am a bit older, a bit fatter, a bit more ordinary. Just saying. I will put my mini violin away now. 😜

Pick a topic that you follow passionately since podfade happens the most with topics that you stop researching/not interested in outside of broadcasting. it absolutely shows when a podcast host is doing it as ‘work’ vs doing it as a passion project. Also if you’re enrolled at a university/community college I would HIGHLY recommend taking a public speaking class(confidence boosting and projective speaking techniques) and/or a broadcasting class. It takes so much longer parsing through the countless “10 THINGS I WISH THEY TOLD ME” videos on KZbin because most of the time, it’s all the same anecdotal advice lazily reworded rather than elaborating further using quality sourced information. The academic environment helps me internalize what I learned vs copying the processes of another KZbinr and wondering why it sucks when it doesn’t come out the way I wanted.

Live-streaming a new video podcast and sharing it to highly active group that relative to your topic is a great way to jumpstart your podcast, just remember to ask your listeners to share the stream to their favorite group on something like Facebook. Live streaming is a huge bonus especially if you can get the live chat active so it boostsyou seo. My dream is starting an interview style podcast using a combination of video and live streaming, the fans can offer good questions to ask your guests via the live chat, and If their question is used it will likely boost the engagement in the live chat other fans will hopeyou pick their question as the interview progresses just make sure to acknowledge the person asking the question on whatever platform you’re streaming on. Good idea?

I feel this. I started a podcast in July. I am a schoolteacher specifically 6th graders. I am physically and mentally exhausted. My podcast is a true crime podcast and I have my twin sister jump on every now and then as a guest. I sleep for 2hrs on Fridays, from 3:00am until I am done, with the rest of the material. I have to research the material and it's not the easiest thing. I am also grading on the weekends. I know eventually it will pay off, but I give it my all because I really want my podcast to be successful. THIS IS HARD AF THOUGH BUT IF YOU WANT IT, YOU WILL GET THERE. No one helped me start it. Friends and Family were not willing to put in the work. I said Fuck it this is my dream and I have to put in the work. The researching part and the case you are going to speak about requires a lot of reading. Oh, also running the material on a separate Instagram account for the podcast where I post about the episodes. It is a lot and I do this all on my own. Thank You for providing this. I feel like yes, I get some listens, but this is anxiety to the max. I will be utilizing the tactics you provided so thank you. I love it when a few people are willing to share information. I know podcasting is competitive therefore a lot of people are not willing to help the competition which why can't we exist in the same space? We all can and shall help each other out especially the ones who are starting from nothing but fire and passion.

Thank you SO much for this video, and I'll be digging deeper into your library for more. My fiance is starting a podcast and we've been lent an entire, giant box of gear which we have zero idea how to use. This podcast gives us a heads-up about avoiding the five pitfalls mentioned. Thanks again!
