Thanks Gareth - these are soooooo valuable! We are new to Airtable and have already transformed our business with it. Your videos are critical to how we are setting up our team.

Is there a way to create a two-way task list within Airtable? For example, if I have two separate bases with tasks lists is there a way to combine them.

What's the best way to handle multiple entries for "notes" in this example? In Trello, we can enter multiple comments on a given card and they get a time stamp and are sorted/easily visible in chronological order. Not immediately seeing how to do this in Airtable.

Awesome Gareth! I am trying to make a planner where I can see how much hours of work I have so I can see how much weeks are already fully booked. This helps me tell my clients when my next open spot is. Do you have any tips for that?
@GarethPronovost5 жыл бұрын
Hi Natalie - yes, this is a great use case that is made simpler thanks to Airtable's newly released feature: limiting linked records to a specific view. Airtable themselves actually built a great tutorial on solving the very use-case you propose. Check this out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4SUg6yEhduSgck I think they do a great job in explaining this, but if I can help clarify anything please let me know!

Thank you for the answer Gary. My work, much like yours I assume, is more than just an hour per client. It might be 2 or 10 or 30 hours of work. And I work with several at the same time. That's what I struggle with, I know right now how much total hours is left (hours for project minus hours worked- per project and then a summary of total hours left but I don't know how many weeks that is and I might have a project where the work isn't until May or July... do you understand what I mean? I hope I explain well.

awesome, as always! Thanks :D one question: In a team (shared table) I can mention a coworker via "@" in the Notes-Field. Can I also put the currrent time/date automatically in this field? Thanks!
@GarethPronovost5 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, unfortunately there is no way to automatically capture meta data like the time that a record was updated. However, there are a couple of options that might help: 1. Integrate your base with Slack (the free version is fine). This way, when a record is updated it will automatically message the update through Slack. This will be timestamped, so you can go back here for reference. 2. Make Notes a separate table that links to your main record. Then, when you add a new Note, you'll be creating a new record in the Notes table. You can then use the field type [Created time] which will automatically populate with the date/time. *The last option is possible because we can capture the time that a record was created, but not updated. Hope this helps!

I can't seem to replicate your formula example. I'm pretty sure I have typed it exactly. Has AirTable changed their syntax? I doubt that is possible. AirTable won't let me save the field.

Once again, your video has been so helpful! Is there a way to have that the due date change if passed to today's date? I can't quite create the right formula myself. :)
@GarethPronovost5 жыл бұрын
Hey! It sounds like you have a due date field (that you enter) and you want to do a formula on that date, is that right? So, you want a new field (column) that looks at the due date you entered and either brings back the due date, OR brings back today's date if today is PAST the due date. If that's what you're looking to create, try this formula: IF({due date}>TODAY(),{due date},TODAY()) just replace {due date} with the name of your due date field. This will return the due date that you entered unless today is after that date, in which case it will return today's date!

@@GarethPronovost My interpretation of the question (because this is something *I* would need...) is if you have a due date, but don't check it off by the due date, can that due date be updated automatically, so the task doesn't fall off my radar. How could I do this?

You can create another layer by building a new table for subtasks and linking them to the 'parent' task
