This is a fantastic presentation. The importance of vaccines cannot be overstated. I particularly enjoyed the positive (optimistic) outlook presented - that in the next 20 years, we could live in a world in which all children have access to functional vaccine programmes (and are vaccinated).

Why is the crowd laughing and giggling while they're talking about vaccinating children in development countries against deceases? Great info/Way of presentation though, Hans Rosling should be in every classroom on earth!

The crowd is laughing because they feel relieved that a fact-based worldview doesn't require a sad face! We think it's very unfortunate that most important global knowledge is communicated in ways that make people feel sad. Gapminder tries to carefully convey the most important facts without invoking any difficult feelings. If the audience starts feeling sad, they wont stay tuned for long, and then they wont learn more. Gapminder Foundation The reason I asked was because the laughs seemed fake - and faking laughs while talking about terrible deceases is no joke. Anyway, I'm a fan of the foundation but I think you guys should get more attention, 20k views on something everybody should see, while a song about foxes get 100million in a couple of weeks. Integrate with the curriculums in the schools around the world, make it mandatory. To achieve that, you probably need to collaborate more with institutions and officials to make them aware of the problem of ignorance, and what huge problems ignorance leads to, such as racism and xenophobia - which creates antagonism in all the major societies on earth.

As someone who works in the field of transporting time and temperature-sensitive pharma worldwide, the biggest obstacle in the logistics chain is government regulation (nothing wrong with that!). Whilst Hans is celebrating 4 out of 5 children getting vaccinated, it could be 5 out of 5 if only governments could agree to "preferred carriers" of pharmaceuticals. We don't need more nurses, Bill. Thanks for the offer. We need less regulation.

Vaccination risks causing more damage then it helps fix. You inject a concentrate of the very thing you hope to be cured of in hopes of not getting it later. Some kids get autism and other horrible illnesses from it.
