Garage Door Insulation Part 2

This is the conclusion of my garage door insulation project. I had no intention of this video being this long, but for those that want to know what you're getting into. This is for you.

Looks very nice, I was thinking you should have pulled the door opener release, so incase someone hit the remote - low & behold it happened ! Glad you were not removing the top brace at the time. I use the same radiant barrier on my doors and have installed a mrcool split ac. Makes a world of difference. Great job.

So nice to know I'm not the only perfectionist about things like this. My dad always drilled this into me. "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing RIGHT!" My life might be easier if I wasn't so anal about things but at least I try to do the best I can. Like you. Thanks for this video. It's the best one I've seen on this product. My insulation roll is still sitting in the box and apparently mine is the 21 inch version which I had to special order. So hopefully, no cutting for me. I'm waiting for the weather to cooperate so the tape can tack up properly. Cheers mate.

THANKS for the lessons! I'm about to install the same US Energy stuff on 2 garage doors (one @ 16', the other @ 8 '). Like you, my engineering background tells me that the extra vertical taping and the hinge manipulations should give better results. An extra complication: Here in Florida, the state mandates hurricane bars on the inside of garage doors. They are like the bar you have at the top of your door, yet there are more of them, 5 on the 8' door and 9 on the 16' door. Off they come, and back on they go. Finding the screw holes behind the insulation should be interesting. :)

No, I'm sorry, I don't have the link for it. I went back and looked for it and couldn't find the exact kit that I ordered. It was a US Energy Products kit that I installed, but there are others that are very similar to it.

I'm getting ready to do this, however, I'm going to add some other insulation to fill the gap. What are your thoughts on this?

It's probably not a bad idea, but I'd be careful not to make your garage door too heavy. You may have to adjust your springs on the door if you do. I chose this kit because it had an R8 rating, it was light and wouldn't affect my garage door opener. Most of the board kits only have an R5 rating, so keep that in mind.
