May I say this is the best garage door opener tutorial on all KZbin!

Great video. Considering the replacement of my vintage 1990's Liftmaster and this was a nice replacement walk-through. I just bought my replacement opener and watched this video again. My only "old guy" advice would be to hand start bolts you're installing, rather than starting them with the ratchet. Helps you avoid cross-threading things.

Nice timing. My garage door opener stopped listening to all its remotes so I'm shopping for a new one. I didn't know they made them with battery backups.

GREAT call out for the extension. I almost bought a kit and assumed plug and play. Saved me from turning back around and going to Lowes.

Very well done, consider shortening the bare wire when connecting to the unit to prevent short circuits if the wire ever gets accidentally pulled.

I have a similar genie model. My track looks similar. My track is dropping and I’ve discovered it is the issue that prevents the door from closing. How can I fix?

@16:04 is your right most sensor wire shorting to the case?
@davepo6443 Жыл бұрын
Greetings, I cleaned sensors, bought two new different remotes, erased all memory... indoor button works fine all the time. Both new remotes must be pressed several times or it works on the first time and then not. Wires seem to be fine even when I wiggle them sensors do not flicker. How can I trouble shoot the geniue motor? Installed 2004. Thank you.

Great video I have had seen couple of your how to videos that were also amazing. But question to you is I have a genie garage opener. It also uses a rubber belt too but you can't add a backup battery to it. So do you think it I take a short cut by just. Changing the motor and hook it up the existing rail and belt and just reprogram everything else. Your expertise would surely appreciated. Thank You.

I have the opener up , but can’t get the turn buckle closer to the door to install the arm. The belt won’t move. Any ideas?
@erickgutierrez74872 жыл бұрын
Did your unit come with the belt retainer piece of plastic? I noticed mine didn't, I have 7155-TKVE (from Lowes) also a belt driven model, but don't see that piece. I noticed in your video you never covered that piece so I never really thought of it. However I see other videos and they cover this piece.

great video! I have a marantec 4700, I want to replace it with another brand. do all garage door opener harnesses the same?
@LRN2DIY2 жыл бұрын
If you're referring to the way they mount, that definitely differs but you can usually work it out with what's there. For the wiring, there are typically just the sensors for the safety beams plus the main button pad, so those are pretty universal.

I am planning to install a security camera in front of my garage. Is it safe to drill a hole through that solid wood in the middle above the spring?
@LRN2DIY3 жыл бұрын
As long as it's a small hole (presumably for passing a wire through?) then that shouldn't be a problem.
@cdpc2113 жыл бұрын
@@LRN2DIY yes for passing a wire through. Thanks.
@aazjo3 жыл бұрын
I had to replace the rollers on my garage door because of wear. If yours is old that might make it quieter and prolong the life of your garage door opener/motor.
@LRN2DIY3 жыл бұрын
Good point - that's probably a fairly inexpensive way to maintain things and quiet it down. We actually had made so many adjustments to my mother-in-law's garage door system that I researched replacing EVERYTHING - door, motor, track, spring, electronics, etc. and it was at least $2000 if I went pretty basic and did it all myself so anything you can do to keep things rolling is worthwhile.
