This was on the BBC the other day. I can't stop thinking about the man who spent a lot of his life digging a 'hole' in his garage for about 30 years. Utterly incredible. I don't think he even had an answer as to why he did it, he just felt compelled to do it. There's a message there for us all. I just need to figure it out! Beautiful photography.

...И обязательно цыганская музыка -- любимое клише именно европейцев про Россию. Надо снять документальный фильм про Германию, где фоном пустить марши 3-го рейха. / Und am neuem, wenn man Russland scheint, eine zigeune/romische Musik spielt. Keiner von dieser Leute hört die, und das ist so nur für typische Kitchklische. Gleich wie in ein Doku um Deutschland Marsche des dritten Reiches stellen. Schönes würde, naja?

I can only think of the poor poultry and their utterly grim lives ,there seems more humanity in them than the fat character incarcerating them . It also reminds me very much of Manchester in the 70s ,when grim existence made for creativity in Dickensian and Victorian decay.

if you are dissatisfied with your lot, then watch this. mostly men in their garages eking out an existence in the bleak landscape of Russia. surrounded by snow covered mountains or soviet Russian housing of the most depressing kind. one guy digging out the floor of his garage down 4 storeys - why? God knows!! i think he will keep digging forever. most of these people lead a pretty pointless existence, forever hemmed in by deep snow. this film is interesting from an outsiders point of view, but it isn't a life you'd want for yourself and doesn't make you want to live in Russia. DEPRESSING!!!

I work for a Russian garage cooperative. We have one garage with three basement floors. What for? A casino with billiards and a sauna was opened there. But I would like to know if there is much sense in the existence outside of Russia? What can our foreign citizens boast of?

Слушаю передачу Hörbar Rust - как и каждое воскресенье. Не могла сдержаться, просто хочу вам «поставить на вид». Живу уже 40 лет в Германии. Опыт жизни «на чужбине» и особенно последние годы массивной «прессовки» со стороны СМИ, повысили чувствительность... Почему надо для рекламы фильма и имени чернить прошлое, страну своего происхождения (Родиной я это уже не называю). Даже Байкал назвать «Perle der Sowjetunion“... и упоминать только негатив типа - как мои родители это вообще выдержали, 2 детей и без стиральной машины и вообще... 😳🤭 И это говорят люди искусства, создатели новой кинокультуры?! Я в шоке!!! От трагедии Чернобыля вы смогли только передать «широкой немецкой публике“ по Radioeins что вынуждены были с родителями уехать из («свободной европейской») Украины в (страну агрессора) Сибирь 😱🤔🤭, потому что предки вашего отца были высланы во времена сталинских репрессий туда (хотя Ижевск? Сибирь?!) ... милая девочка! Мои предки по-настоящему пострадали от сталинских репрессий! Мой отец в результате провел все свое детство и юношество в Забайкалье - как репрессированный, раскулаченный... и только в 1947г. покинул то глухое место на Баргузине... (И ни разу! Ни одного слова негатива я от него в его воспоминаниях о своем детстве не слышала!). И эти воспоминания давали ему силы до конца жизни! Мои дети родились и выросли в Германии, но никогда они не говорят отрицательно (пренебрежительно!) о родине своих предков. Они примерно вашего возраста. И очень привязаны к родине и своих российских предков (отец немец), часто бывают там, отлично владеют языком (и матом тоже!). Надо уметь делать различие между (грязной!) политикой и культурными корнями!

Кстати, группа «Кино» (с «Группой крови», которую вы выбрали для передачи) из Ленинграда. Почему-то об этом вы не упомянули в передачи. Наоборот, вы так «упаковали» информацию, что создается впечатление, что это группа (тоже) из Киева, Украины... 😩🤔🤦🏻‍♀️
