In this video we try a new way of killing a Lada engine - replacing the motor oil with acid. Will this do away with a generally very hard to kill motor?

@LeSarthois
@LeSarthois 3 жыл бұрын
@@georgerosebush9754 It is a water bottle, you can see the word VODA (water) on it (and yes, that's one letter away form vodka) Though, the rest of the sticker looks technical, so it may be demineralized water (for use in cloth iron for example) (still not a clever idea to put acid in it...) As for having acid, I'm not too surprised they have it around a garage (acid is pretty generic as a technical term... I mean, vinegar is an acid too). Acid can be used in several way; for costly or quick fix, they simply could have battery acid to rebuilt older batteries, or they might had gotten this acid from older batteries. Edit : Well I wrote that before watching till the end and he says "don't put electrolyte in your motor" so it's battery acid they used. So they definitively have a legit reason to have acid around.

@@nickoloes Most cars will never see that much pressure due to their relief valve.
@fastinradfordable
@fastinradfordable 3 жыл бұрын
AIO inc. not true. Cold starts can easily approach 100psi on many engines. On vw Vr6 as the oil control valve wears the oil pressure generally creeps up with mileage. The oil pressure goes up and up and eventually over pressurized the chain tensioner that causes the timing chain guides to break. Very common to see 110psi+ cold oil pressure on a 150k mile engine. 80psi air pressure isn’t much force. Air is soft. 80psi hydronic oil pressure can shoot a hole through your skin.

The reason it works is that the seals dry out and shrink over time. If you keep putting oil on it, it'll keep the seals from drying out, which prevents the sulfuric acid and hydrogen gas from escaping and reacting with the water vapor in the air, causing the corrosion on the terminals. Just because oil and plastic came from the same base compound, that doesn't make them the same or have the same reactive properties. Plastic is a different chemical compound completely.

Well the answer is simple whel acid reacts with metal it produces salts +hydrogen gas.. For eg:- fe+h2so4=feso4+h2. Well now days most engine parts are made of aluminium . Al+h2so4=Also4+h2

Russian technology works in every condition. How do you think that you could start jet fighter in -20 Celsius with modern frozen LCD displays. All you realy need is machine, system that works in every condition, when you need it

Maybe just Language/cultural barrier, but it seems like he's unnecessarily a dick to his workers. He tends to talk down to them, and has to have the last word Worker: "There's a reason for the engine not rotating, everything's Oxidized" G54: "In a peculiar fashion, I might add. It's as if it's rusted out" Yes, that's what oxidized means. Also Worker: "It removed the film, and effectively buffed out the internals" G54: "I'm seeing the same picture as you" Like dude. Chill.

*BIG CHALLENGE* This is a video about killing a Volvo, I'm really curious about what happens when you do the exact same thing on a Lada! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKXVnWx4eLSmbMk Will the Russians win the Swedish?

Looking forward to watching your video, in spite of nothing dramatic to expect. Most acids have an excellent thermal conductivity and a high boiling point, so is in principle a better coolant than water. However, freezing points are quite high, so perhaps not suitable for use in Russia. You will pretty soon have to deal with corrosion, and most acids will foul up the radiator with calcium. So not an ideal choice... 🤓 Edit : Having watched the video...... "DOH!!!" 😅

What kind and what concentration of acid did you use? Muriatic, Sulfuric? Aluminum is highly reactive to strong acids. Aluminum oxide = corundum = sandpaper = grinding wheel = next in hardness after diamond. Think about what that would do to moving surfaces! lol

Why not fill an engine with 2 part epoxy, and see how long it will run, if the engine not giving the epoxy the time to settle, if it will cure? Use 30 minute epoxy or so. Something with enough time to work with, but you won't have to wait 4 hours for it to completely cure. The less cure time the better though. The less time the faster the actual peak of the reaction takes to cure. 5 minute epoxy actually cures in about 30 seconds to 1 minute. 30 minute epoxy actually cures in5 to 10 minutes. The period when the temperature rises significantly and the epoxy almost completely solidifies. I think that would be an awesome experiment! If you don't do it, I will, so let me know. I would like you to do it as more people will get to see what happens and enjoy it. Thanks. Let me know if you see this and if your interested, so I don't have to post this message again, and don't have to do it myself! Thanks again guys, love the show. It has to be in my top 3 favorites. That's not just on KZbin either

Since you tried acid already, what happens if a degreaser is added to the crankcase? Interesting
