​@@vincentvancraig Yes your songs are stored in a different file. However, GB is really not that big of a file alone, so it's not really worth it to delete if for storage reasons. You should get the program "Clean My Mac". I use it all the time and I love it. It makes it REALLY easy to find the files that are taking up the most space and getting rid of them. Plus it does a lot of other stuff to clean up unused space that is not something you or I could find on our own easily.

I found this major fix is to remove your magnetic case which you are using , the use garage band which works fine with myself , after contacting apple care I got this fix that works amazing

Problem: you can only reinstall Version 11 of Garageband, so that means installing Big Sur, and loss of more software. One thing Apple will NEVER do is leave you in peace, without destabilizing you with unneeded "upgrades". It's against their deepest convictions...

There are ways to install it without the App Store, because screw you, Apple. iCloud should be banished. My laptop is approaching 10 years and I'm holding off as long as I can to get a new one.

After trying all other tips and tricks I could to find online solve the issue of no sound on any of my tracks (a few frustrating hours) I watched this and reinstalled garageband....a few minutes later all tracks had sound and my problem was solved. THANK YOU!!!

I can't believe it. I have some music I want done by next week and my entire project had crapped itself. The project would start slowing down after a few seconds and then start dropping notes and drum beats. I copied it all into a new project and the issue persisted. This fixed everything. Still works like a charm. :) Thank you. the most recent update was buggy and the MIDI ins were goofy - as if every note was doubled and sustained. I went to the interface website to make sure I had the most recent drivers - did the update... but it was a waste of time. I deleted then reinstalled - perfect and I only wish I had did it sooner. Thanks Lew, I started having an issue last night where I would do a save command on a project and it would crash and reset. Happened 3 times in a row. When it came back up it then said the MIDI function was unavailable (which I wasn't even using). Will give the re-install a try tonight, sounds like the best solution.

Someone else is saying it but I'll reiterate, smart controls panel freezes to the first software instrument loaded. The next instrument has loaded but the graphic just stays on the first thing that loads up so I can't see what I'm doing!

Hey man I hope you can help me. I’ve restarted, I’ve re installed. I’ve tried everything. I have been trying with my friend to play to his drum track. So I dragged in his wav audio of him playing drums. Then the input for my guitar became buggy, really quiet and only picking up the spikes when I play to hard. I’ve deleted his tracks off my Mac too and still nothing.

I can’t pan to the right without the sound gradually, getting quieter. This happened once before and when I updated my computer, it fixed it. I just updated again and it didn’t fix it. Any ideas. These are mono tracks, thanks

GaragebandandBeyond I haven’t tried but I think it’s a different problem, I have 2 tracks and on 1 I have a beat and the other my voice I recorded and put an effect on it to make it sound different and when I merge them to make it 1 track , my voice goes back to sounding the same without the effect , it used to work but stopped for some reading

Deleting the app didn't work. Hi, I am having glitches using the features on the track layering section on my iOS devices. . the pop up toolbar won't me use the features such to open settings, copy, paste or split... The volume on the tracks won't slide across but I have made a copy of the garage band file and that seems to helped the volume issue.

Just the other day I loaded up GarageBand and uploaded a mp3 file. When I played it back, it had choppy/skipping issues along with playing faster than normal. Any ideas why I got this issue? I opened up an older project and when I played it, I had no issues.

bonke yea i used to have the same problem. For some reason in garageband you need your files to be in aiff format. So for example if you have an mp3 or wav format you need to convert it to an aiff file. You can do this by searching wav/mp3 to aiff converter online

If you have an older Mac, DO NOT UNINSTALL IT. You won't be able to reinstall it. Apple forces you to get the newest operating system, which you, of course, can't update to, forcing you to get a new Mac. It might still work on older operating systems like Maverick, Sierra, Yosemite, etc. But if you have Big Sur installed, it will not work.

I have a good one for ya. No smart controls to be found in GB10 instruments. Im running it on MBP 2010 i7 High Sierra. I tried reinstalling. Nothing. I found next to no info on this so it's seems to be a unique problem. I tried clicking the plug-in rather than the smart control button. Nothing. Ever heard of it? It's strange that no one else talks about it and there is only one reddit thread and apple discussions archive and to be fair there are a couple people experiencing this but no answer.

Didn't help mine, but this was really a weird one. I wanted to stop using a Spitfire Audio plugin and couldn't seem to manage it from the GB interface to I closed the app and Spitfire app. When I restarted GB, no sound. I saw that signal was coming from my MIDI keyboard, the green sound activity was present, but couldn't hear a thing. So yeah, I trashed the app and reinstalled. No difference. Hmm, let's look at preferences, look at sound output. Somehow, Microsoft Teams was listed as the audio out and input device. No idea how that took over, I haven't used Teams on this laptop in months. BTW- Clean My Mac is rubbish. No one needs to use that.

I uninstalled and reinstalled GarageBand three times. I can get to the home screen and sort through the instruments but once I choose anything anything at all it goes to a no recent screen with the option to press an OK button beneath that. My tracks are all lined up but when I go to replay it and listen it skips about 2 times thru out the song. Have you experienced any trouble recording MIDI with an electronic drum set? I set it up in garageband and the midi drum track sound drops out after 3-5 secs every time. I switch over to a synthesizer midi and that lets me play the drums fine without dropping out. Garageband still sees the kit and the midi signal and even lets me record but the sound drops out. Reinstall didn't help.

GB just suddenly stopped playing back or giving monitor feed thru my headphones... what a pain the backside. I had used it for a total of: 12 minutes. Recorded two test voice clips, then all of a sudden : Nothing. Download complete. no change. I found the menu where it was trying to send the output thru the same usb mic as input. No idea why, I would never have knowlingly selected that... anways, I switched the output to the headphone jack and we're all good. sigh. So far, not a fan of this app!

Hey man. I just got a 2020 MacBook Pro, and all I have is spotify and some notes. Garageband literally can't record anything without freezing. I deleted it and reinstalled it. Thanks for this. But I just started using Garage Band and recorded a piano track. The first time I recorded everything was fine. Then I recorded again, and now GarageBand plays back all of the half notes as broken up as if they are 16th notes. Like chords are now running 16th notes. Cannot even figure out what is different. Harold Spewak One time the built in effects pedals and amp models stopped working. Everything sounded like just my clean guitar signal, save for very old projects, which for some reason still sounded fine. Deleting and reinstalling GB fixed it for me.

Sorry ,Lewin...Yes,re-installation was easy and smooth like you said it would be--but it didn't solve the defective interface problem.So far no pitch problems with software instruments ,so for that I'm thankful for your advice..

Check the presonus website for an updated driver, there might be one that you missed! I am glad to hear that it fixed some issues though! Good luck!

Can I not listen to the guitar through the iPad whilst recording? I’m using a behringer umc22... or do I need an output from the device
