Thanks Lewin! A quick question regarding that "natural stereo" patch on on acoutic guitar recorded via a mono mic: Is that stereo effect automatically recorded to two track of is there some sort of small delay that is giving the illusion of stereo on a mono track. Thanks again. It sounds great either way!

I have a Kramer Farmington for the early 80s and want to give it a hollow body jazz sound. Are the guitar effects in GB meant for solid body electric guitars mostly?

why is it important that when using the compressor that it doesn't enhance the level of sound and it needs to stay the same as the original in the track?

Hi Lewin. I've noticed when mixing guitars and trying to layer them in GB and then pan L & R, there tends to be a delay at the beginning of one of the sides. It's not latency, per say. Say on measure 12 the guitars come in, the L side starts about a half second before the R side comes in...then they are in sync. Any tips on how to prevent this? Thanks!
@GaragebandandBeyond4 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say without seeing it, but here's my guess. It sounds like you might be using guitar sounds that have the "splitting mixer" on the virtual pedal board. So my advise is to turn off the splitter, shut down one of the distortions and you should be fine. Also keep in mind that reverbs are usually stereo (unless you ONLY use the amp reverb) so some of that reverb signal can spill into the opposite channel.
@citylineband4 жыл бұрын
@@GaragebandandBeyond went in to the mix and checked, and sure enough the "splitting mixer" was indeed on the guitar patch. No more delay in the parts now after removing it. Thanks a million!

Hey man, could you please tell me how did you get that clean guitar track without any background noise? I'm trying to get rid of background noise using the Noise Gate plug in in Garageband but it just doesn't work: it does cut the noise in the silence spaces, but it leaves it when there's guitar. Thanks in advance!

Great video with great information, thanks for sharing! Quick question - what's the purpose of having two EQs for the vocals? Why not have one that makes all the appropriate changes you desire?
@GaragebandandBeyond2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Sometimes things like compressors that come after the EQ will change the tone a little. I use it to bring back anything I feel that has been lost. It's not a MUST. It's more of a case by case situation.

How exactly does the master track work? It seems like there's no audio in the track, but that adding the plug-ins affects all the audio tracks as a whole exactly the same? IZ that basically what's happening?

Very nice video, thank you very much. I'm using garageband for tracking and midi. I think I might do some more of the mixing work in garageband before exporting to my other daw: The one daw which actually has "tone" and that is Harrison Mixbus 32c. It models the analog circuits of the 32c console on every channel strip, bus and the master bus. Check out the demo and you'll see what I mean :)

PLEASE HELP! For some reason my instrument audio plays through one monitor and vocals always play through the other. I have the same problem when using headphones. It doesn’t sound professional and I can’t figure it out. This has been super frustrating so if anyone has any advice please help! I use a scarlet solo interface. I do covers while I play piano so I have voice and instrument being recorded at the same time. I also record on garage band. I know this may seem like a very immature mistake but I’m so new to this. Any advise would be much appreciated!

You have a thing against high end because you can’t sing bro. You don’t have an ear for it. No doubt you gave some good info as far as some the technicalities involved with garage band. If you were blessed enough to have an ear for music and vocals in general. You’d have a voice... period... the fact that you can’t sing says you shouldn’t be so opinionated on this subject. Stick to the computer knowledge. Get a real musician to help you with the sound... again, not being mean. Just some friendly advice
