I track every minute these machines are down because of a sensor has glitched or failed. What I have noticed is that my down time because of computer problems and sensors is up over 41% from 8 years ago. My major repairs, broken axel, destroyed transmission, engine issues is up over 32% over 8 years. John Deere in my opinion is no longer worth the sticker price for new equipment. I have started purchasing other colors and am happy to report that they just cultivated 22k acres with no mechanical problems. It is sad to watch an American Icon be destroyed by corporate greed. As a former John deere employee. I worked at both at Harvester in East moline and dubuque iowa. From the time I hired in in 2008 till 2017 when I left they outsourced so much work to Mexico and when it would come back to get installed on combines there were so many issues that we would have to fix. A vast majority of welding jobs were shipped to Mexico and no work was brought in to replace the work we lost. Also the pay of $52 and hour is way off. Even with bonuses, profit sharing and working a ton of overtime no one hired after 1997 is making that money. I'm not sure what they got with the new contract they got but it's no where near $50 and hour. It's right around $30 or so. I hope all the jobs they moved to Mexico over the years gets brought back and they can bring back all the people that they laid off.

Labor costs are over 12 times higher in the US, that is unsustainable. We need to maintain equipment manufacturing in the US to be self reliant on one hand, but no company can compete with those margins. We could always put tariffs on other countries products to make us more competitive but that basically shifts the cost to Farmers which in exchange would trickle down to we the food consumers at the grocery stores. So we may need to look closer at why we need to pay an assembly line workers that much to make this product, maybe automation needs to be increased. Maybe both the workers and especially management need to have their pay scales tied more directly to sales volumes to be more competitive with their competition. I love the idea of making and buying American as a patriot but companies also need to answer to their shareholders or no one will buy their stock and they will go bankrupt. I'm afraid the average US worker may need to take a reasonable pay cut and therefore life style reduction to be more in alignment with the rest of the world or realize we can no longer manufacture stuff any longer here in the US, because we all want stuff made in the US but we're not willing to pay more for it is the bottom line.

Lmao.. Then use the housing for rentals along with all the apartment buildings they buy and are proven slumlords.. Then say housing is scarce through corporate media, which their buddies in real estate corporations have helped because they stall on building housing so pricing for them skyrocket. A two-bedroom in the surrounding areas and where I live range from $1800 to $2,400. But you don't think wagers should go up to keep up with that? So then when there's more homeless you can call everybody lazy and say they don't want to work. When in reality they are working but they still can't afford housing..okay. John Deere made about 10 billion in profit. But that isn't enough for their CEOs and shareholders? They want more. How much is enough? Well damn it's great that they can go to another country and only pay them $4 an hour with no health insurance, then sell us crap equipment that we can't even fix ourselves. My deceased husband (almost 5yrs )and was a JDeere salesman from 1980’s for ten years THEN WENT TO Case for ten years and went back JD as he liked the owner and their business service in a small community in Nebraska for eight years and said many times JOHN DEERE HAS AN ATTITUDE and actually CASE IH HAD LOTS of GREAT EQUIPMENT!!!! I hope TOOOO THAT the JD CEO WILL LEARN HIS LESSON!!! Poor farmers who ARE DIE HARD JD EQUIPMENT OWNERS???? John Deere isn’t taken care of THEIR CUSTOMERS???? He always said THAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!!!!! CEO of JD STAY IN USA!!!!! Trump will charge you if you go SOUTH HE KEEPS HIS WORD!!!🤷♂️🤷♂️

I washed my hands with JD when all the exterior turned to plastic and narrow ing the wheel base of the tractors makes them very unstable. When companies get to be conglomerates they destroy themselves due to greed

Farmers won't be getting rid of their older model tractors because they can still work on them they will quit buying the new ones then dear will start having problems with not selling new tractors

The employees and farmers made this company and it’s all because the CEO thinks only about himself and his profit . Well don’t support them let them work with there’s cheap help. Just go to show how cheap the company is .

It’s too late to keep using old tractors. First they are old and sooner than later you can’t get parts (John Deere makes most of the parts) The old tractors don’t have enough power to complete the tasks farms have. Old tractors will work for smaller farmers for sure.

@@wesswainson254 They can put a person in the drivers seat and smaller equipment Farmers have been spoiled also with government mandated ethanol fuel that cost more to grow and refine than using petroleum fuel. Small farmers is a pipe dream today unlike 20 years ago I see it inmy own family the size and technology of there tractors vs their fathers on the same land .

The only thing that john Deere did wring was not creating a system for local farmers to repair equipment themselves. My having grown on a farm in the 1950's and using a model B and a 50 and a 420 then a 720 diesel with a pony motor. we did all of our repairs. when something breaks of course owners are not happy, then to feel that John Deere will take advantage of someone when they have trouble. I am now 85 years old and wouldn't consider a john deere at this time.

Being a publicly traded company it makes decisions based on stock price for it’s shareholders and thats a big concern for made in America profits over people this is why the CEO has such a salary I agree with the idea of high Tariffs against an American company who is willing to put Americans out of work for its shareholders

my grandpa started a john deere sales dealership, was the only one in the area. my uncle took over the business, had just started a 4th building in a different county, then cov hit, and the largest farm in the area decided not to use john deere equipment due to high prices. just last year, john deere came in and strong-armed him into selling the small shop to a larger retailer to "cut costs" of shipping. now he's back to the original store, and its a hardware store, with a non-compete clause signed so they can't sell farm equipment.

This is the same problem the auto industry had in the 1980s when they moved production to Canada and Mexico because the American workers wages far outseated they're worth.

I don't care who it is they should go out of business in a United States if they were built here and abandoned us for cheaper labor should have a 500 percent tariff on anything they import into the United States which means none of it will be coming

Everyone is putting all the blame on the CEO. But bill gates bought sufficient stock to have a say so in how the company is run. The move of production does not irk farmers as much as everything on equipment is now tied to a computer. If something goes wrong and you can replace the part. The computer keeps the part from working with a error code. And you have to pay a JD technician hundreds of dollars for a road trip. To come out and reset the computer. If you replace a sensor that is easy to replace. It could still cost you a thousand dollars or teo. To put your equipment in use. Sure farmers do not like their hard earned dollars going to hostile nations. But being ripped of in your own back yard. Is the most irritating. Thanks to Bill Gates.

Screw globalization! Then understand that the ramifications of Deere leaving the US, along with their "anti-customer" repair policies, are far worse than the necessary pain to force them to return to their historical position as a "partner" with farmers. Repairing our Constitutional Republic will be painful, but well worth it!
