The History of the Snowman! ⛄️ I picked that book up at Goodwill earlier this year and look forward to reading it in winter. I love learning random facts like that. I would have gotten that paper airplane book too... I got a couple of books on making airplanes and kites at an estate sale this past weekend. I love learning random skills. I completely agree with you about focusing on the stuff that brings you joy to research and sell. You're recognizing the value of these items and getting them into the hands of people who truly appreciate them!

Congrats on 8,000 subs! The steel mill books are great. My Dad and all my uncles worked for J&L steel. My grandparents lived in West Aliquippa, right up against the tin mill. What a dirty little town. Black soot (and God knows what else) covered everything. As awful as it was, those jobs supported many families here.

Just a note about the books, subject matter aside, people use them for staging, home decor and junk journals. They go to Dollar Tree and pay $1.00 a book, just for that. So, people want books these days...doesn’t matter the subject. I know, if I buy a book, subject matter is everything to me. If you ever run across old Reader’s Digest Condensed books, they are wildly popular! I do like the books you grabbed. They have history for sure. 😊👍🏻

Hiya Renee, love trash picking day so much fun- a treasure hunt! Ok I really think you should make “hot & heavy” (🤣) old lady a hood ornament, how fun would that be? Silly, but fun! Great finds, love the tortilla maker & those old booklets! I think I have that ham cookbook! I used to sell old books (still do if I find something of interest I don’t want), went by my whits never scanned. Positively despise the “scanners” they’re awful people who claim an entire table at a library book sale as theirs. Um no, you haven’t paid for those books, I’ll bloody well choose what I want & knock you over just as you’ve stepped on & knocked over teensy me! Not to mention they don’t live in our county & pay taxes for our libraries- I wish libraries would have a pre-sale for residents only. Hmm might suggest it! Have a lovely day! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️
@PaperandMoose5 жыл бұрын
My local library does hold a pre-sale for the cost of $15 or $20, I believe. Of course, that money goes to the library which is nice. You pay for early access to the books, a day before the sale “officially” opens. Who wants the books with the barcodes anyway... older books published long before barcodes are the way to go!
@RnR-Rebel5 жыл бұрын
Paper and Moose - That’s wonderful! Ours used to do that, a small admission price + a non-perishable food item for our local food patch. I loved that as I’m always happy to support libraries & food pantries. They would make you show your library card to prove you were a county resident as well which made you feel special! Yup, much rather have the books w/ out the bar codes! These scanner people don’t care, try to claim all of a giant table, then wind up putting back most of them. They’re just rude! Here’s to lovely old books! Cheers! J. XXX😘🧡

I see tons of those kind of books here in G.W. and Sal. Army...out dated textbooks. Those factory chronicles are great, love that kind of literature! Looks like Taco's van in the backround. Being snowmen are my favorite Christmas character...that Snowman history is neat. These hooks, if old, are made of solid brass or sometimes bronze...the new stuff I usually cheap plated white metal. Don't scrap them...try the flea market route. That metal senior citizen lady could be part of a lamp. Years ago saw a similar figure [an old man] as part of a leaded glass shade lamp. Those Red Cross First Aid books have been since the 1920's. They just update them now and then. Have two 1940's publications by USS Steel, similar to yours. I could not take that hot humid climate...spoiled here...it's cold and foggy, nice and cool...great especially at night!

8,000 subscribers! You are really taking off now So was all this stuff that people put out for the garbage man to pick up? The table set up looked like it was more like Free Stuff put out for people to take I see that occasionally around here ( Delaware & Maryland) but never anything I want normally I think it’s obvious that the woman is the figure from the top of a bag lady trash picking trophy 😉😃
@PaperandMoose5 жыл бұрын
The house with the Free sign has it put out for free the day before the garbage men come. My guess is whatever people do not take, they just pile it up for the trash anyway. Everything else I picked up, like the books, were set out for the trash.

Haha. Saw what you said later in the video. You are wise to do what works for you. For me, they take only a second to find and price and they would pay for more ephemera (including the posters I love). Congrats on 8000!!!
@PaperandMoose5 жыл бұрын
I do sell on eBay, but my heart just isn't in the scanning barcodes business. I realize that there is money to be made in that and that I left money on the curb, which you are completely correct that this extra money could go towards buying more ephemera. I would just rather spend my evenings researching the ephemera that I have and that I enjoy researching versus listing newer books. Some people think that's crazy and free money is free money, but as they say in life "You have to do what makes you happy." I did look up one of the books in the box and it sold on eBay for about $4.00 with free shipping... Glad I passed :0) Now if those books would have been older, I would have grabbed them all for sure!
