I completely agree with you regarding gardening. I wake up every day grateful I have a small garden to work in. It takes immense patience to wait each year to see beautiful plants and flowers return and the excitement to see how all these living plants respond each season. I not only follow your channel for ideas and to learn new things I also relate to and appreciate your honesty regarding the trials, victories and tribulations.

I completely agree. You have to be so patient and remember that gardening is a long game. I have to remind myself to enjoy the journey of discovery and learning that takes place as I work towards my vision. Interestingly, I have discovered new combinations of plants by mistake as I try plants in different areas. Combos I never would have thought of it I hadn’t experimented.

Your grandma is so proud of your garden! And she is deeply touched by the many ways in which you pay homage to her. I'm grateful for your frequent reminders that we who garden need to step back from our "doing" to evaluate, commend our success, and strive for even greater, because the best is yet to come.

A garden is always changing Danielle. I’ve been in my house for 35 years here in Australia and I’m changing some things in my garden again. It takes time for sure. I have a saying that you might know sometimes the journey is more satisfying than the destination . Your garden looks lovely.

I know you have certain vision of what you want your garden to look like, but to me, it looks like PARADISE! I always enjoyed perusing my mother's garden before she had to sell the house. I've lived in Apartments for 35 years so I very much appreciate your sharing your beautiful garden paradise with those of us who don't have a garden. It's beautiful! Thank you!

So true! Also, not only is gardening a beautiful journey, it is fuel for the soul! Just think. If it was all done in one swoop, you wouldn't have the joys of continual gardening processes. It would all be done, and you would be left twiddling your thumbs wishing you had something to do in the garden lol. The fun and joy of going and picking the right plant for an area, or growing something from seed because you can't find it in plant form is such an amazing part of the process. One should never be able to say that their garden is completely complete. There is always tweaking and maintenance to do. Your garden has come a very long way. Be proud of what you have accomplished!

Your garden is lovely. No one knows your garden has any holes. Only you know that. My yard backs up to the cart path of the golf club we belong to. When people go by and say how pretty things look, I have to remember to say thank you and realize they cannot see all my weeds. Your gardens will forever be changing because you will have new ideas you will want to try. A garden is always a work in progress, and we should enjoy the journey. Now if those danged deer would cooperate!

Good advice! You have come so far in a pretty short time! Gardens are like people--works in progress! You have such a good vision of what you want your garden to be--it's amazing to me because I see a plant I like and plant it. I guess I "fly by the seat of my pants" when it comes to gardening. In the end, we all end up with beautiful moments in our gardens when certain plants are blooming at the same time and you just have to stop and marvel at it.

I am very fortunate to have flower gardens in my backyard! Your point about low maintenance is well-taken! This year, I started a WHOLE bunch of annuals from seed. They were so successful that I now have a ton of planting to do. I'm feeling like it's more of a chore and I'm not enjoying the process. I do think I need to switch my focus to more perennials in the future. They will be far less work and they sustain their beauty for a much longer time!
