Garden Experiment #2 - Ways To Grow Potatoes

Last year I tried to hill my potatoes in the largest garbage container I could find. The thought process was that I would get more potatoes from how tall I was hill and growing them.
After a certain point I didn't get more potatoes. Only half of the garbage can was full.
I think what went wrong was I didn't let the potato growth pop through the soil for long enough.
With this year for potato experiment #1, I plant one set of potatoes around 1 foot deep and I'm going to let everything grow without hill at all.
I will let the sun leafs get as much sun exposure to send energy to potato production. I'm assuming i'll have larger potatoes out of it.
With potato experiment #2, I will be planting them in a smaller bucket and placing two potatoes at different depths.
One at the bottom and the other halfway up to see if that will grow more. I will be filming the whole thing and a video will come out mid summer on the results. Wish me luck in the comments!
