I rescued a full grown emu that had escaped from somewhere and was wondering around in the desert a long time ago....a long story and I wont go into details on how I got it in my car😂.But man oh man, I got kicked in the thigh and had a 3 toed bruise for weeks. It lived in my chicken coop until I could find a hone for it. It would hiss if we wore colorful or striped clothing. We could only approach it wearing black. I've rescued many things from baby birds to a tarantula. But that was my last rescue, it was overwhelming. Thankfully a feed store took it off my hands thank goodness.

I wonder if the emu was abused by its owner or its didn't like anything but black. I had a dog one that must have been abused by owners. It's was left out with bother and sister plus a few other dogs to die at this house in the country by one of my ex-friends. He didn't like anything with 2 wheels or a skateboard,plus he hated bath time. I work with him. He saved my life one from getting run over by a car. He passed away with something wrong with his back. He wasn't able to move or used the bathroom very well. It's was hard at first, letting him go. I know I will see him again someday.

Robbie and Gary you could try to contact Jason and Brook at Cog Hill Farm -- the have two emus Nugget and Goldie -- they raised Nugget from a chick -- also Daniel at Arms Family Homestead -- they also have a emu that they raised from a chick -- i do think that Jason would be your best bet though -- good luck -- it seems that if they are handled alot when young and growing up they can be loving and friendly -- Nugget sure is!!

I see you frequently post about totes that the dirt you create, has settled near the bottom over time. Have you tried your potatoes in those and continously adding more soil as the potatoes grow? This would replicate " hilling" and would increase yield possibly. I think if you tried it in a tote, your results would be better than a wash tub. Just a thought, loved this video! If you ever get serious in raising emus let me know and I will send you antique turkey marbles to replace the aluminum foil!😂❤😂

I had to go to the lab yesterday and get a blood sample take. When I came back I saw something strange. A bird on my front yard bird feeder. It didn't leave as I walked by it. It was very calm. Very unusual. I looked at it and noted it was blue. Again very out of the ordinary. I looked closer and was shocked. It was a parakeet. It was feeding at my wild bird feeder with wild bird mix in it. I went inside and got some more feed and went to add it to the feeder. It flew away a few feet but didn't leave the area. I added the feed and walked back in the house. I watched and it chased away some sparrows and took over the feeder again. Ate it's fill then left the yard. I was shocked.

Hey Robbie was just watching old video of yours about the cuphea flower you got for hummingbirds I want to tell you about another plant that is so overlooked-it is the Pineapple Sage. It’s an herb-so it’s edible and gets little trumpet shaped red flowers that in zone 9b will bloom all winter and hummingbirds love it. It can get quite large. If watered regularly.

Yes, but treat it as a ‘plant’ water it once in a while so the Matter/microbes break it all down, in other words, don’t let it try out completely
