The other day I was sat in my garden trying to photograph and film my garden birds, when suddenly I heard a strange rustling by my side. As I was close to my garden pond I thought it may have been a frog or even small bird. But I was wrong. Luckily, having my camera already in hand, I was able to position myself and prepare for the rustling creature to appear from the bushes. To my surprise it was a mole! The mole moved through the bushes, like a scene from Jurassic Park, coming closing and closer to me. As it moved it long, it dug a very shallow trench through the mossy grass. It never ventured far from the hedge line and seemed very cautious when it did. Being unable to venture out further than a few inches, it wasn't long before it scurried back into the hedges. Whilst I hurried to check the amazing footage I had just captured.

Never seen one this close. When you type "UK mole" into KZbin all you see are videos about "How to trap a mole" or "How to kill a mole". The level of intelligence in the vast majority of the human race never fails to astound me.

This is only the second time I've ever seen one this close and I was surprised how small and beautiful they really are. It's fur was so clean it looked like velvet in the light. Unfortunately though I too found the same results when I searched for similar videos. Hopefully people can appreciate them more if they see this one. Hope you enjoyed it.

Only Nature I showed it to my 4 year old daughter after a lengthy conversation we had about things that are underground, as we walked back from buying sweets at the local shop. She mentioned sewers and worms, I talked about roots of trees and moles. "Whats a moles?" she asked, which led us here. Thanks for posting it up. I don't share your enthusiasm though.

@@OnlyNature I am so relieved that you love your garden mole! I found the huge amount of "kill moles" videos very sad to see. I read that the soil heaps they leave make very good potting soil! Lovely video, thanks for sharing!

I have a mole living in front of my house and when I feed bread crumbs to the birds this little cute varmint gets his/her share.

That was adorable. I watched this with headphones during my office job lunch break, in Sydney. It was lovely to hear all the different birds in the background, so different to ours...along with the traffic and barking dog...very like ours. Please post more little videos like this! Your recent building a pond video brought me to your channel and stayed for the random garden resident.

Thank you so much for this video. I have two huge earth mounds in my garden and a third is under construction. I watch for ages as the earth moves about, falling and shifting, hoping to catch a glimpse of a little nose, but no luck yet. Keep up the good work, and thanks again.

Wow...that mole is brave. If it doesn't go underground soon it might end up as food for a small hawk or cat or something.

Yes! There’s always the risk for them but this little mole continued to make mounds in my garden so I know he was safe
