I'm at this same stage of my build and I find your method quiet easy. Helpful video, thank you!!!

Thats a nice finish on the sheets. I'd like to use those on mine. Can i ask where you bought them from and their name? Thx

Thanks I got them from Claddco direct, I went for the mm 0.7mm plastic coated ones, www.cladco.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/425/s/32-1000-box-profile-0-7-pvc-plastisol-coated-roof-sheet/category/102/

Perfect job. I can’t believe the timing of your vid as I’m doing mine tomorrow.

Ha! Wow that my be the fastest comment yet! I was still posting the description! Good luck with it, make sure you wear goggles, watch out for small metal shards, and wear gloves, the cut edge is pretty sharp! I probably could have got both side done in one day if I had started earlier. One other tip, if you are working on the side with a pitch, make sure you measure the last panel from the overlap, I almost cut mine too short! Thanks

Quick question as I have just received my wall box sheeting. When holding up against the soffit I can just see the timber batten the runs along the top. Is this the same with yours?
@FatManBuilds2 жыл бұрын
@@generationuk Hi There, on mine, I fixed the soffit a few mm off the wall, then I have three rows of of battens about 250mm down from the top, and up from the bottom, and in the middle. Then the metal sheet is fixed to those, about 5 mm down from the soffit to give an air gap, so I can't see my batten as its 250mm or so down, behind the cladding. do you mean you can see the batten the cladding is fixed to? Also have a look at episode 39 you can see the batten positions I have on the back. Thanks

@@FatManBuilds thanks. my horizontal battening at the top goes up to the soffit. Perhaps I just need to push the sheet up further.

Hi...can I ask what make cladding you used. Shopping for mine now. Thanks for video, really helpful.

Thanks, I got the panels from Cladco online direct. I think other sites also sell their panels too. Thanks for watching!

I thought of another possible option while watching, but will depend on how much space you have on the ground. Make a simple jig with two battens at each end of the wall at 90 then connect them with a strip of ply or OSB that follows the rake of your roof. Then lay out all the cladding you’ll need to do the wall and lay the jig over them, then draw a line following the rake piece. Make sense?
@FatManBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Oh! that is a great idea I may well do that for the other wall, that will actually be much easier. Even if I just use ot to mark the pannels, and not cut. Thanks very much!

Thanks for the video. Can I ask, you ask the angle on the cladding is 4 degrees, does that mean your entire roof is at a 4 degree angle? If so, that's about 1 in 12 . Is that the recommended for your roof type, or did you just want a decent angle on it? I've been looking at about 1 in 40 my my garden room (about 1.5 degrees), which I gather is fairly typical for an EPDM roof.
@FatManBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, thanks for the comment. Yes the 1 in 12 or 4 degree is the minimum angle the manufacturer gave. I have have alot of videos of the rubber at 1 or 2 degrees, so I imagine that will be fine. I would have go for that but there are trees around and I think the metal will be easier to clean all the leaves off.
@patrickloftus2 жыл бұрын
@@FatManBuilds I'm also going to build under some seriously large amounts of leaf fall, but now i think about it, I'm more worried about the damage the falling branches might do to a rubber roof. Might have to consider something more rigid!

How did you go round the corner with those metal sheets?
@FatManBuilds7 ай бұрын
Hi There, I stopped at each corner then there are corner flashing that go ne each corner at the back, and on the front I built out false columns and clad those in Cedar.

What sort of blade have you got in your saw?
@FatManBuilds2 жыл бұрын
It's a metal cutting blade from screwfix, went through the sheets easily.

@@FatManBuilds thanks. I'm about halfway through my garden room build, and like you plan to use the metal cladding sheets on rear and side. Was thinking about using fine mesh tape to stop insects from getting in behind the cladding, but not sure how you'd actually be able to apply it so it sticks. Then I've seen cladco do foam type filler strips for the sheeting that would work, but then it would stop airflow wouldn't it? Thoughts?
@FatManBuilds2 жыл бұрын
A few people have mentioned it but I didn't bother with any netting or mesh. I don't think anything can get inside the actual building itself as it would have to go through all the layers of the wall, so really its only to stop something going between the cladding and the membrane, which I don't really mind. I think it would only be a few spiders. I had a large shed in that location for 10 years and never had any issues with insects inside or underneath, and there was no netting and loads of gaps all over the place!
