I just felt the need to say to you how right you are to take notice of the tinnitus, have had it for quite a few years now,it gets worse if you stressed i don,t know why but for me it's very obvious, and trying to get a good night sleep is quite a battle I sleep the radio on all night and for me, that helps, My problems started after 4 years in a factory making uPVC windows, the router for the locks screams at you and even though I wore earplugs and a headset,it just suddenly creeps up on you, Yes I am 72 now, but thank you for pointing this out to try and prevent some other guys getting it, When i walk about even today and see the number of builders not wearing protection,i sometimes go up and mention it,.

Impressive! This guy not only knows what he's doing, but also does his best to make the job perfect - none of the "the customer won't ever notice" stuff you see from others and no safety shortcuts either. I cringe at some of the things I see on these videos. Yesterday, I watched one in which the person giving a lesson held a bit of wood down on the bench with one hand, whilst he chiseled a rebate into the end, with the chisel pointing straight at his hand that was inches away.

Hi did you know that if you have a radio in your head phones you are increasing the db.the reason you wear headphones is to cut the noise not add any. Check with health and safety and they will confirm.I love your carpentry.keep up the good work.Andy Daly .retired QA inspector.

The radio volume is limited to a level which causes no harm. It is measured in pressure on the eardrum and this is far less than many headphones and buds.

I’ve got tinnitus, constant ringing in the background. As soon as the background is quiet, there it is and it’s progressing so getting worse. Wear ear protection, it’s so easy to do and will save you a whole load of ball ache in the future.

Watching a master craftsman at work Robin you are awesome , I have always worn ear defenders, however I have tinnitus and this was probably caused by plane spotting in my youth 50 years ago and going to discos I am now 62. I have now got some IsoTunes ear phones which go into the ear and connect to my phone. Beethoven is supposed to have suffered from tinnitus probably because of being next to the orchestra the amount of people I see on site who don't wear ear protection is probably 4 out of 5 workers.

Great video! A couple of questions; - Don't you need a vent at the top of the cladding to aid ventilation? You already have the perforated closer at the bottom which is great but typically you'd need the air to be able to circulate around the cladding. - Those blue battens are 25/50 and since you use them on the wide side you have 25mm gap. Recommended batten size for cladding is 32mm or more. Has that never been a problem for you in the past?

When you're pinning the siding to the battens, is there any trick to making sure you're nail line is plumb and hitting the centers of the battens? Do you just eye it?

Robin, love watching your videos. With regards to the cladding, you have made a 2 mm allowance for expansion in the vertical plane but what about the horizontal as the cladding has been cut to the rod you made up to fit exactly.

I have a pair of Sthil BT ear defenders. You connect them to your phone via Bluetooth so you can listen to radio and stream music. Sound quality and battery life are amazing. And you can take a phone call with them on with the built in microphone. Highly recommend. £60.

Hi Robin - we have had a concrete block extension built and I;ve got PP to go with horizontal boards - I'll probably go with larch and paint them black with Barn Paint or similar. It's quite a big extension and will form our major living area. What would your advice be on batons and fixings for these and my main question is would I need a vapour control sheet on the blocks pre batons? Ive been told not to put a membrane on the building?

Great question, it wasn't clear but the bottom row of cladding goes over a proper vent strip and the adhesive is on the face of this, any moisture can escape through this vent strip, really good technical question thank you!!

I know you review alot of tools and great explanations on headphones, other tools you was using could of had 30 seconds of review like mitre saw, drills and levels as not seen robin use milwaukee much, normally a hikoki man.
