Starting alliums early definitely makes a difference. Last season I started some onions and shallots in January then again in February, and the ones started in January turned out way bigger by harvest time. I just dump the seeds into larger pots rather than than potting them up over time. Just give them a haircut if they grow too long and you’ll see the stalks start to bulk up and they’re easy to transplant outside in the spring because they’re more robust.

I don't know if it works up where you are, but here in zone 5 we buy the all the packets of Columbine in the fall when they go on sale and then throw them outside in the beds in the fall. It's kind of like surprise gardening. You don't know where they're going to be in the spring. Ps as a chili head I can tell you I use a lot of hot sauce. I don't eat the darn peppers themselves that's just crazy pants.😃👍🏼🌶️

@debbieclayton27427 сағат бұрын
I do believe my over winter pepper plant isn't going to make it. The branches are turning dark. It's a habanero. The deer feasted on it and after moving it the plant was so bushy, beautiful and full of flowers which all fell off when i brought her indoors. I'm broken hearted. So, how do I know for sure?

I started my onions new years day last year...well...this year. They grew like mad for about 6 weeks, and then 90% of them died. I have no idea why. The ones that made it got transplanted outside in spring and got to about 5" in diameter (Alisa Craig?). I'm going to start them in pots on new years day this year rather than in a big clump in a tinfoil tray. The pots are about 3 times as deep, and I'm hoping that does the trick.

Or maybe it's how you have it set up or positioned,or something, but it was actually kind of hard to follow. And your content is worth it :)
