I have been getting rid of garden accessories that don’t seem to blend with traditional. You have confirmed my choices. Thanks!

I subscribed to your course and I just want to say that I love your teaching style. I sent my mood board to a garden designer I wanted to hire and she asked if I was a professional! 🥰 She ended up being too expensive, though, (and thought my full vision was impractical) so now I’m going to try to do it myself. Thanks for giving me the confidence in myself that I can do it-even if it might take me a couple of years longer. ❤

Wonderful! So glad it helped. Did you take just the mood board workshop or the design your 4-season garden course too? Course is an extremely good price compared to hiring a professional (as I'm sure you know)! Appreciate you saying hi. Email me your mood board I would love to see it.

I have been trying to do a more cottage/French country style of garden with stone pavers and lots of Mediterranean plants and roses. It looked beautiful for about the first 10 years, but our climate is getting hotter and drier every year. Even too dry for many so-called drought tolerant plants. We also have water restrictions. Now every time a flowering perennial dies I have been replacing them with succulents such as yucca and aloe because that all does fairly well without too much extra water. However this does mean that my garden’s style is evolving to suit the climate more than my personal taste. It would be interesting to see a video about how climate and one’s personal style can work together.

this is a good comment. Climate changes which means certain plants that used to thrive no fail. or even trying to find replacement plant becomes hard because everything is full and this baby plant cant compete.

You forgot the "no style" style. It's called 'MY STYLE'. It's what the gardener loves and wants in their garden without outside influence on musts and shoulds. A garden evolves.

No I didn't forget that style. I dont see how that would ever be helpful to someone who is struggling to make their garden feel more cottagy or naturalistic. I'm here to help those who are struggling. If you want a "my style" garden that's free of outside influence, then that's great. Just maybe stop watching KZbin videos about garden styles that will potentially influence you. There's no reason to be all angsty about someone trying to provide helpful advice on the internet. You can absolutely do whatever you want!

I try to think of it like a chef offering advice on making dishes. For Italian it would be tomato, cheese, basil, olives, oregano ,pasta and bread for example, for a roast dinner it would be boiled veg, meat or substitute and a gravy for example. Now you could put some sprouts and gravy on your pizza or olives and cheese on your roast dinner , or even put some custard and cinnamon on top of it all and enjoy it. Now there's nothing wrong with your personal taste but generally speaking you wouldn't find it to be advised by a chef or cooking show etc.

If you want a "My Syle" garden, why are you watching this? Just go outside and do your thing. Nothing in the video says you have to do anything to your garden. Amy simply provided information that a lot of people want to know. Remember, this was FREE info. You weren't required to watch.

I have to have different styles. We are a corner unit on 1 arce land. The side of the house is woodlands so I have that as my woodland garden. Then I have open space near my house and front and back. So I have to have a cottage garden. then on the other side is my japanese zen garden because of trees. But i do have a natural rocks as i dont like modern hardscape. I do make natural pathways so make it like a park.

I would love some ideas for woodland.mountain themed landscapes. That's the feel we would like to implement on our property and I haven't found a lot of resources in this style. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
