Your garden looks beautiful! I was able to grow False Sunflower (Heliopsis Helianthoides), False Indigo (Baptisia Autralis), and Anise Hyssop (Agastche Foeniculum) from seed via the winter sowing method. They all germinated and are doing well. The Heliopsis and Agastche are in bloom now. From what I read, the Baptisia takes a couple of years to flower. I wanted to let folks know in case they wanted to give it a try too.

Thank you for this excellent presentation with visual representations of native plants. I so like to see how you've incorporated native plants in your garden and it has a welcoming feel as well as providing a haven for native insects and birds. An ecologically-minded approach to the backyard! Bravo!

This was so enjoyable! I garden in Northern VA, and I'm slowly replacing my "builder's choice" plantings with natives. I'm well over the suggested 70%...but the non-native that I cannot give up is Cosmos, the pink varieties. I love them so much! They attract bees, butterflies, and finches, so I don't feel as bad as if it were something like Nandina, English Ivy, Crepe Myrtles, or Liriope, which are in every garden in my neighborhood!

I live on the Coastal Plain in Georgia and share many of the native plants that grow in the Northeast. Love your garden!

Thanks for this video. That summer sweet is huge! I planted two of them this year, I will be very happy if mine get that big.

Thanks to your channel, I found Mountain Mint at a nearby nursery in South Jersey. It’s doing beautifully! We have a huge deer problem and they have not touched this plant!

Thanks for the informative video. In an earlier video I think you called the Clustered Mountain Mint by the name Blunt Mountain Mint. Are they the same plant? I'm trying to do as many natives as possible, but we all have our non-native favorites. One of mine is Shoal Creek Vitex. Vitex is native to other areas in the U.S. But not here in NC. It attracts LOADS of pollinators.

Yay! A new tour video. I planted Pearly Everlasting from seed and only got 1 plant. Then I read there are male and female flowers on different plants. Guess I need more seed. Biggest draw this year for bees...Shrubby St. John’s wort. Native and rare in NJ.Question, I have privet hedge that I prune along the sidewalk. What can I replace it with? I also have an ilex crenata Chesapeake. It’s listed as invasive in nj. It’s about ten ft tall, and pyramid in shape as well as evergreen. Any ideas what I could swap it out with? Thanks! I love your channel!!

Summer sweet referred to in this video can be trimmed to form a bit of a hedge. Also red or black chokeberry cane be kept small by pruning. All these attract pollinators and the last two attract birds with berries. Thx for being so conscientious and removing common privet! It is so invasive in a park near us.

Love these videos! Is thy one iron weed? Or how many plants would you say that clump of iron weed is?

It looks like 3-5 plants. Can start with 1 plant and allow it to drop seeds in disturbed soil for spreading. Easy to pull out to keep controlled.
