What a beautiful and wonderous garden. It makes me cry and feel utter defeat over my yard which is on the south-southwest-west side of house and backed up against a nasty bermuda grass greenbelt. Got it looking great last spring/summer and along came the big ice storm which took down my trees and the arctic blast that killed all that was left except a yaupon, a saucer magnolia, and a large spirea. I can promise you I will be revisiting this video often, not to cry but to feel close to the wonder of nature until I can re-establish my yard.

I hope one day to eliminate my lawn and be able to have some beautiful shade areas. My double city lot lost all but one of its antique oaks in an ice storm years ago before I purchased it six years ago but I’ve planted dozens of trees and just over 100 shrubs in that time not to mention roses, clematis, perennials, bulbs and raised beds for 100’s of varieties of dahlias, vegetables and fruit all with the hope of having a space half as amazing as this one. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see more inspirational spaces this year.

JIM!! YOU hit it out of the park with this one! My goodness so much to see in every square foot. Everything has been well cared for and aged so gracefully! I love how each area has its own character yet the space is quite cohesive! Ive taken so many notes and will strive to have my space look like this down the road. Thanks sooo much!👀🙌🏾😱💯💯

Jim, I loved seeing the rest of this gorgeous garden! I also love the fact that the homeowners manage the rain that falls on their property in such a way as to keep it from running into the storm drains. I wish more folks were aware of the harmful effects that urban run-off causes. Please let the owners know how much your viewers appreciate seeing their gardens.

What makes this most beautiful is the personal expression of the gardeners - a reflection of them i am guessing. I am beginning to tire of the videos of “perfection” in gardens, where they begin to look like commercial installations, and look sterile. This garden is enchanting and vibrant! Great tour. Thank you.

Hi Jim, that backyard was absolutely stunning. Jim, do you know if these people or other houses you have shown have had professional landscape designers plan these gorgeous spaces back in the day or are these homeowners just naturally gifted in that area? If the latter, I am impressed. I am lucky to put a pot combination together. LOL TY for great vid Jim

The first vid on this property gave me the courage to define my bed edge around 2 big oaks. Our foundation is brick so instead of stone, I'm looking for old brick for a low, meandering & partially broken "wall". This spring, I found several viola pedata growing in this area. I'm identifying the natives, leaving them & adding more. We identified where water is going under our foundation this weekend, coming off the roof. Using good plant choices ie sweet flag, sensitive fern, lysmachia, will be as important as diverting the flow with grading. I believe in using plants to SOLVE issues, not to CREATE them! Love this garden Jim, would love to know the history of this lot. Tell the owners thanks. Bunches of us got a chance to visit & they didn't have to let us use their bathrooms 😂

I'd love to learn more on how to slow down water and the intentional designs that effectively retain that water. In regards to this video, it would have been awesome to know how the water typically flows and then what the present design does to redirect the water or even keeps the water in place. Water management is a new interest of mine and maybe a future video on the topic itself would be helpful with the use of past garden tours as models.

Such a beautiful garden! I really love when you do these tours of urban neighborhood yards that have just been done beautifully. I'm especially intrigued by the water drainage that the homeowners had done here. You talked about having designed it purposefully to capture the water. I would love to hear more about that, and if you could show some specific ways they did that. I am on a sloped lot on a lake and because of new construction across the road from us I have a real problem with water from there rushing through my yard and straight into the lake. I would love to find ways to slow it down that don't involve riprap! Thanks for your informative videos.
