Laura showing her hands with the blackberry stains made me think of my sweet dog Dottie Sue, whose favorite place to lay in the yard was under the mulberry tree. She was a beautiful cream American bulldog & she would be covered in varying shades of purple streaks 😂 One time we were at the vet in the waiting room & someone asked me what kind of dog she was & they were so tickled when they discovered her “markings” were actually mulberry stains! 😂 Oh Dottie Sue you were my funny funny girl 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the way she speaks, but just know she speaks in a very informal, colloquial manner that follows a different set of rules from what you would find in a standard (American) English textbook. Yay for you! Learning languages is fun, but hard. I’m learning my sixth language now in preparation to move out of the US. It’s a real challenge!

After loosing 2, and nearly loosing 5 Green Tower Boxwoods, and watching your great pred mite drone drop last year, I started applying pred mites since early spring. The new growth was healthy and practically glossy. The bad spider mites tried to take my Salvia instead (right in between my GT boxwoods). The bad mites should be called FIRE mites - it's like trying to put out a fire in a windstorm. I believe I'm winning though, in using the pred mites. I used systemic treatments up until last winter and it didn't really work. I also tried systemic treat on my Blue Chiffon hibiscus and nearly killed them. This year the early pred mites (right when hibiscus started new growth) made for lush and healthy hibiscus plants. Thank you for sharing so much, Laura!❤

Will the good insects you had dropped in colonise, or do you have to apply every year? I’m hoping to create an environment where the good bugs will flourish. Fingers crossed 🤞
@betsybugsmith5324

@@lindagardener855 you will have to apply only if you are having issues. The only way to grow a colony of good guys is to keep an infestation of some bad bugs. Once their food supply is gone they move on.

Seeing Russell and Douglas fussing at each other, it made me think of Cheddar.. I remember you said he went to live at Bethany’s house; have you heard how he’s doing over there? And how are the fires affecting Bethany’s property? Hoping she’s not in immediate danger. The big thunderstorms are a double edged sword. Cause damage with the wind and lightening, but I was hoping the rain they brought would quench some of the fire.

I appreciate seeing the “not so perfect” side of gardening. Makes me feel better about my own battles with bugs! And the berries are amazing! My dad and I used to go across the street to the cow pasture and pick tons of blackberries that my mom would make into pies or cobbler! I loved that so much!! My mom would let the berries sit in cold water first before cooking them and I was always amazed at the amount of tiny worms that would come out of them!! So I always soak my berries now, even store bought ones! 😂

Petrichor The smell of earth after rain is called petrichor, which comes from the Greek words petra (stone) and ichor (the golden fluid of the Greek gods' veins). The smell is caused by a combination of oils released from plants during dry weather and chemicals released by soil bacteria when it rains

Good luck with your beneficial insects; hopefully they will take care of the problem. The berry harvest was awesome. When I was growing up, we would go out to our back pasture edges and pick buckets of blackberries and mother would make jellies that we would eat on the rest of the year. I never actually ate store bought jelly until I was grown (we always had delicious homemade strawberry, blackberry, plum, apple and pear). I miss those days. You are making memories that your children will cherish forever. Have a blessed day everyone.

Hi Guys~ WOW... That was like a mini-speed-tour!😉 Despite the damage, everything looks beautiful. The grass will grow inches quickly after that rain. The first plant I put in my barren yard was a blackberry. I love going out & eat berries for breakfast off the vine. I planted five Golden Rasberries but only one survived. I have two more to plant once I decide where to put them. I managed to get two blueberry plants to grow (Our Florida soil is sand!) after modifying the soil. I also used Espoma Land & Sea as mulch which helped my fruit trees, too. Good luck fighting the good fight with predators! Thanks for a great video...as always! 🙋

I live on a former vineyard in Central Valley, CA (Zone 9b) where it's very hot, dry, windy and dusty all summer; daily highs are often over 100 degF and there is typically no rain from May to October. Most of the trees, shrubs, perennial beds, roses and orchard are watered by individual drip emitters or half-inch perforated tubes and mulched with leaves, compost or arborist wood chips I've tried a new approach this year - - on really hot days, I give everything a quick spray with a hose in the late afternoon to cool the plants off, raise the humidity a bit and wash off the dust. It seems to be working!. Flowering and fruiting have slowed but the plants are thriving and pest free .

We've had so much cool weather and only a week or two of hot weather to even grow anything. Tomatoes are still flowering and I don't know that there is even a promise of having any fruit on them this year. It's been crazy cool weather in our part of the PNW and I get so disappointed with this years garden. Loving to stop by your channel often and watch any videos I have missed. So sorry about the spider mites. I am dealing with Japanese Beetles, moles and chipmunks. Thanks for showing that you have to deal with pest issues too. Those blackberries are beautiful!!! Just wow! I can’t believe you don’t have to cover them….to hide them from the birds.

Even though you have damaging storms and bad bugs, your positive attitude makes me happy and everything still looks gorgeous. One question, how many miles each, do you think you, Aaron, Paul and Bethany walk in a day? It would be interesting to know. Thank you for your knowledge, enthusiasm and positivity.

Oh Laura I really really enjoyed watching this great video, your beautiful garden is so gorgeous looking and so great that you treated those spider mites, some of those bugs are so frustrating, it is also possible to get those on your house plants, I have been dealing with mealy bugs on my houseplants mostly my Hoya and I have been treating them and finally most of them are dying and my Hoya that I haven't lost are coming back and that makes me so happy, this is the first year that I have had those darn bugs, I have those irritating fungus knats and luckily I have those sticky traps that catch them and they die. I am also so impressed with your beautiful and delicious looking blackberries and the jam that you made looks so delicious and I do love the taste of those berries and I remember my aunt had those and I would pick them and eat them also. Thanks so much again for this great video and I will really look forward to your next one. I hope that you have a blessed and beautiful rest of your day, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂😂🥰😘💜💜💜💜💜

Laura, I'm loving the berry production. That triple crown, what a winner. I'm in Nothern CA, my blackberry varieties were a Logenberry and a Marionberry. The later grows on the banks and canals like weeds. The size is amazing... longer than size of the triple crown. The Delta island I live on has the Boats and Berries festival every August. So fun.

I’m sorry about the rough weather and the fires in your area. I’m praying everyone is safe and healthy. I hope your predatory mites work!! Watching you enjoy the fruits of your labor (literally 😂) is so awesome & so inspiring! 😊♥️

In my house it would be blackberry cobbler time. Blackberries freeze so easy, they are a great fruit. Enjoy!

Stephanie from The Chateau Diaries has blackberries growing over metal trellis tunnels in her walled garden that they can walk through and pick the berries. The are intermingled with different colors of clematis.

I’m with on the summer this year. Grasshoppers are my problem. They seem to love my dahlias. Weather! But there are small pockets of the garden that I can stare at and say love it.
啊?就这么水灵灵的穿上了?
