I find it incredibly irritating that you have to state that you aren't trying to make money. Why are so many people who watch, enjoy, and learn from your videos against you making money. You are such a gracious person, both of you actually! I could NEVER do what you do, and I certainly wouldn't put up with people coming up on our private property, no matter how much of a 'fan' they are. The nerve of some people. Also the 'opinions' of everyone on everything, I don't know how you put up with it, I admire you both for what you do and all the hard work you put into this channel. About the chickens, it happened to us too, and we come from farming backgrounds, we lost three of our new chickens in the first two months to an unknown reason, but then you get over it and move on. I just listened to planting potatoes in Spanish. It was good. However, in Spanish we often use more words to describe things and the interpreter does a great job but she has to talk really fast and at times her voice sounds like it was fast forwarded. I do realize that she has to talk fast in order to keep the pace with what you are saying. Thank you for this Q & A. Have a blessed Merry Christmas with your entire family.

I have decided that Aaron is the comedian of the family. (He hands you the doorknob. LOL) It was wonderful to hear that someone won those sets of pans. I would have loved them, still, I knew that others would get more use out of them than I. (Grin 70+ as it's perks, ladies.) Sorry about the chickens dying. It is never a good thing when a pet dies. I would rather they all went like my Patches did this year. In and out having 18 years of fun and then just sleeping away. It was hard nevertheless, he had become an important part of my daily life. The best thing about watching you is that I get to relive my younger years. I too love to garden only now it isn't nearly as easy. So watching younger folk take joy in something that gave me so many years of pleasure is a treat. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone at your end of the camera! No signs or symptoms. It was scary! Thankfully a few was resilient, but we was afraid of bird flu and such. Who knows. Just have to watch for a trend if you go with the same breeder. The breeder we got them from was so nice and gave our money back. They were beautiful chickens. Also, you have a great eye for interior design! So enjoyed the lights, Aaron. Marans (silent S) I LOVE that breed! Don't feel so bad about the chicken death thing....sometimes those things happen. I have been raising chickens for almost 7 years and some didn't make it through the first day and two of my current 15 are from my original flock. My husband calls my chickens the 30k chickens....they are my pets/hobby that happen to give us eggs for part of the year. but they most certainly don't pay for themselves since I am running a future old hen nursing home. Hi Laura. I've never commented on a video before. I stumbled onto your channel a couple of months ago and just love your informative content and your very upbeat and positive demeanor. The lampshade in your living room is on the Ballard Design website. Its been there for a couple of years but I think they only carry it during the holidays. I'm excited that you are holding an event to tour your garden. My husband said he's putting it on his calendar for next year. (So exciting). I have recently moved to Washington state and it is a completely different gardening beast than sunny Southern California. But the new varities of plants are thrilling and the idea of having Hydrangeas is so exciting. We bought a 5 acre farm and are starting from scratch because the previous owner was not a gardener. Your videos are helping me to see my garden on a larger scale. Just placed my order from Murray McMurray for my first chickens ever and am having my husband build a large coop and run similar to yours. Fantastic coop. I love for things to be not only functional but also beautiful to look at. Continue with your wonderful videos. You certainly have more energy than myself. Great question and answer again, of course. Having grown up in the country I remember that all our animals were in and out but now that I live in a congested area and I can’t let my cat out except on the screened in lanai. There are just too many cars and more dangers. If I lived in the country I am sure they would have more freedom. People need to realize there are different circumstances for almost anything and their way may not be anyone else’s way. So sorry for the disappointment of losing your chicks but some things can’t be controlled. These are looking very healthy. Merry Christmas enjoy the time.
@mariankay64824 жыл бұрын
Oh Laura! I so agree with you on the topic of animals! We had chickens and it's so painful to lose one of those precious little girls! I have always been an indoor outdoor person when it comes to our animals but, the house we live in now is next to a really busy street. Our cats weren't used to that and I have had to keep them inside here. It just breaks my heart when I see them look out the window at other cats who roam the neighborhood. I have also seen or heard 3 of those cats be hit by cars! We are working towards a screened in back porch so they and we can have a nice place to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors more. We do have ways for them to climb and play in the house but it's just not the same. I wish they could go out and be free to run and play in our yard! They just don't understand property lines or busy streets! I can't stand the thought of one of them getting hit by a car!!! Ppll are so thoughtless about animals and children and they drive over the speed limits and don't pay attention! If they did what was right, maybe, I would consider it, but they don't! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!! Have the best 2020 possible and I so look forward to all the new ideas and info you will be sharing in the coming year! My husband keeps telling me he can make mine look like the Victorian Lodge but that has yet to happen. I hear you about better utilizing the space where the gazebo is. Though pretty, if you don't get much use out of it then replacing it with the greenhouse is a good choice. And a Hartley Botanic greenhouse would be just gorgeous there. By the way your yard has inspired me. We bought our house and 3 1/2 acres 15 yrs ago and I have add more plants every year, mostly bushes trees and shrubs. This spring I'm going to have my Father come plow up about an acre so that I can plant seeds. I want a mix of anything. I guess it would be more like a cottage garden. I've picked up a lot of tips from you like grouping and drifts. I just hope I can pull it off with out a full garden of weeds. I've also appreciated the fertilizer and other tips you give us. Thanks so much.

Oh, yes! Please! I would love for you to have a Hartley Botanic greenhouse! I'd probably watch and rewatch that greenhouse video forever. Such a dream.

Do you worry about KZbinr burn out? So many of the other channels I watch are taking this holiday season to announce that they are taking time away from KZbin. All of them are saying it’s because they are just burnt out from creating videos. I love GA videos! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

Laura anyone who has chickens know that you will lose some along the way. Your girls have a lovely place to live. My husband tells everyone that our eggs cost about twenty dollars a dozen because of all the things we buy them. They love the mill worms and we grow sprouts for them which they really love. Merry Christmas from Southern California

My sister started with 10 and she lost several, and may be down to 4 as well. Her significant other lost all 10! I have a feeling it's common. Don't be too hard on yourself; you're doing amazing! I so want chickens now!

I had solar panels installed on my home in September 2015, and the electric bill has been almost nonexistent since. One December the electric bill, was less than $10.00, because it had been very overcast the month before.

Hi Laura and Aaron! Thank you for another great weekly recap! It's always fun seeing your answers to viewers questions. I still don't think you should ever get rid of the gazebo. It's beautiful just the way it is because it looks so "natural". I know you'd like it to fit in better with your other buildings/home, but why not let it just be beautiful the way it is? Just my opinion. As long as it has shade, it seems like you could use it all summer, too. Thank you for sharing!

You should add a disclaimer saying... If you’ve never been responsible for livestock, then you have no opinion. 💁🏼♀️ Keep up the good work. Y’all do an awesome job! 🤠

You can find the lamp shades on amazon, I seen it also and did some digging! If you type in tartan plaid lamp shade it will bring up some options. Merry Christmas 🎄

Laura, Aaron and Benjamin...Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from Alabama! I was able to meet and talk with you Laura at the Charlotte NC event. You were so sweet and gracious...just like I knew you would be. I would so love to come to the June garden event at your home...and see Andrews Seed! Just want you to know that your videos are always inspiring. We have a new home with a yard that is pretty much a blank slate. We moved from a house that we lived in for 14 years and the yard was so pretty because it had matured over the years. The Lord willing I am looking foward to planning this one and watching it turn into a beautiful garden too! Keep inspiring us....and please ignore all the negative comments from people. There are some people who just can't be happy with things or accept the good with the bad that life brings!

I agree with giving away the gazebo,. It's nice but it doesn't match any of the structures on the property so to me it's a bit of an albatross. I know some people pressure you to tell about this or that, such as the chickens, and I'm glad that you have the wisdom to wait until you're ready to talk about it. There's nothing wrong with having boundaries. Wishing you are a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be blessed, pressed down, shaken, and overflowing. xoxoxoxo

Uhhhh, I just enjoy how ya think about events/projects within the community, your family &friends businesses. It truly amazing to see you & Aaron doing such amazing things together. One day your son will see all this & be so proud of you all thinking of others not only in words but by actions. I love that ya are very humble but your very kindly about your beliefs on the respect from home life to animal care. Sadly, you shouldn't have to be but we understand sometimes people just arent nice. Its ok there's more love than hate here so they'll be drowned out. Lol 🤗Merry Christmas 🎅🤶#savingupforatourticketoneday
