It will be nice to have your mother give us her perspective on plant choice and design. Many of us have established gardens which brings additional challenges. Such as what do you when the tree providing the shade for the past thirty years for the shade garden must come down. By the way the Hose Link retractable hose was one of the best purchases I made. Yes, the terracing is just, well, exactly what you said -- cozy. There's a small scale opportunity to do that on my property, but.....doing it myself would be a monumental task, and I'm not sure I can make it priority to pay for. It's just a small hill in two areas, maybe a 3 foot rise, but the rest is flat, so I can work with it as it is. But the same rise runs thru my next door neighbor's yard and the previous owner terraced it and you really can't beat it.

You mentioned the shallow, durable roots of Sedum so I had to share my recent experience. I have Rock n' Grow Pure Joy lining my (heavily salted, btw) front walk and this past winter a well-meaning neighbor widened the side walk with their snow blower, completely uprooting one of the plants. I found it in a small clump several feet away this March. I settled it loosely back in its hole while the ground was still frozen and hoped for the best, but fully expected to have to replace it. A few weeks later it is alive and no worse for the wear. In fact it is doing better than most of the other plants lining my walk. Requires literally no care, takes a beating and looks great!

Hope y'all get freed up soon! How awful to be in lockdown there in the spring! Our big box stores were open last year when we were locked down. It was great! I could still get plants and work in my own yard. I hope y'all can do some things outside at your own home. Blessing for health and freedom from Covid soon! From opened up Texas! BTW, I just saw where they put Oregon back on lockdown orders. I don't know if it applies to where Laura and Aaron live but that's just sad. We've learned so much about this disease and it seems to me that lockdowns don't help that much. I hope I haven't offended. It's not my goal. Hugs

When our County Commissioner was asked to do a mask order, he said he was personally opposed and also, he couldn't get his deputies to enforce it. We haven't dodged the whole bullet, but we've had it easier than most. Supplies are still a mixed bag. Prayers for health and liberty.💃💕
