Solomon's Seal - Polygonatum biflorum - Ayervedic Aphrodesiac

Solomon's Seal - Polygonatum biflorum is a classic shade garden plant that adds depth to garden beds, thanks to its arching stems. Super for woodland gardens.
In traditional medicine Polygonatum has been used in the treatment of diabetes and was first observed in 1930 by Hedwig Langecker who concluded that it was likely effective in fighting nutritional hyperglycemia.
Polygonatum is used in Ayurvedic medicine as an aphrodisiac and also to treat pain, fever, inflammation, allergy, and weakness.
Traditional Chinese medicine uses Polygonatum to strengthen various organs and enhance the qi. Polygonatum is believed to be restorative to mental vitality, especially when the mind has been overworked, overstressed, or is in a state of exhaustion.

An additional note. The name Solomon's Seal is derived from the image left after the leaf stalk breaks away from the rhizome or root stalk revealing the official seal of King Solomon. But out of the six varieties of Polygonatum and Smilacina, all belonging to the lily family, only Smooth S. S. ( P. biflorum ) exhibits the emblem. I enjoy your vids. Casually informative. thanx!
