Monty and the team are back with a new series, full of the very best practical tips and advice for all gardeners of all levels.
Monty’s been busy at Longmeadow over the winter, and there are lots of new projects in the garden to share. As well as planting summer bulbs in pots, he’ll be getting some sweet peas underway and adding some space-saving fruit to his veg garden.
Adam Frost visits a stunning Japanese garden that has undergone a major restoration to return it to its former glory. And there's a gardener who has recycled and repurposed lucky finds from her local tip to create a beautiful garden packed with peaceful seating areas.
Frances Tophill discovers how a disused council depot site in Liverpool has been transformed into a green oasis. And we travel to the Peak District to explore a walled garden full of seasonal planting that makes the most of its spectacular setting.

Just to add to Monty's comment about broccoli. This year i have tried a new variety, called "stemmed cauliflower', or sometimes "broccoflower". This produces much smaller heads of cauli, ideal for people cooking for one. It also seems to avoid many pests, and has both a main head, and then tiny florets along the stem. Well worth a try !

So exciting to find the first episode of the 2024 gardening season!! I found Gardeners World online while recovering from spine surgery in 2017. Since then, I have gone back to the earliest seasons with Monty Don and sequentially watched every single episode. I like the way monty says. At the beginning of every show "coming up in this weeks show" as if something excitings going to happen we know full well the show will consist of videos of pensioners gardens Untidy and overcrowded because they can.t remeber where they left the shears.

I had the dare on my calendar for weeks but somehow forgot to tune in to the wonderful Monty and Gardener’s World ! I was very annoyed with myself. Audrey's garden is absolutely stunning 🤗 Good advice to buy small plants in spring because they establish easier 👍 That project in Liverpool is very interesting. I know how much work it is to grow on such a ground. I had similar conditions when I started my garden. Growing soil is still an important task. Sweet peas are so beautiful 🌸🌸🌸

My house was almost carried in to the creek connecting to the Ohio river in the 1937 flood. They dug out a basement, lifted the house up, and moved it thirty feet away. You can STILL tell where old plants and trees were. Have grape hyacinths that pop up in what would be right off the front porch. Also, clearing out the creekside which is at quite a steep angle, and finding escaped plants, old tools, trash, clothes, it is hard, dangerous work, but it is fun!

Poor Nelly died last year. I believe little Patty, the Yorkie is naughty around the camera crews and costs them a lot of filming time, so she usually only appears at the end now, in Monty's arms.
