I always cut the blooms off in the fall. Dead head them. If you live in an area with ice and snow storms you will want to do this. Not only is your clean up easier without blooms floating into every damn thing but you also keep main branches from snaping. Dead head your flowing plants. Some gardeners think this is unnecessary but 25 years of watching plants snap in half and spent flowers caught in everything has made this a no brainer.

My peegee hydrangea tree was a sapling when planted and has turned into a bush. How do I train it to become a tree?

Thanks! I have a very young and small pee gee hydrangea I planted last year. It's only about a foot tall and very thin so far. I have high hopes......

I planted 150 PG hydrangeas last spring! They’re about 1ft tall also. I did an experiment and cut one down to the roots this spring. That one plant is about 4ft tall now. Doesn’t hurt to try!
